Chapter 5

A smash jolted Jay out of his thoughts as Carlos dropped a glass bringing everyone's attention to him in the small Cafe. He blushed as Jane swept up the pieces. Jane was closing the Cafe early today as they were going to meet at the Bonfire place at 14:00 and she never liked to be late. Despite her boyfriend not being on time for anything. Jay’s table got up as they headed out the door waiting on Carlos and Jane as they locked up before heading towards the Bonfire which was a few minutes walk from the Cafe just hidden by a few trees. It sat on the edge of the forbidden forest but thankfully not on the property but away from prying eyes. 

They arrived just as it hit 14:00. Carlos thanking the heavens he didn’t have to have the scheduled talk with Jane, his head still hurt from the last time. He grinned sheepishly when he realised he had said that out loud as he tried to avoid his girlfriend's glare. Jay smiled at their behaviour staying out of reach of Lonnie who was giving him a sharp look after he had agreed with Carlos. Ben and Mal just laughed from their spot on a log next to the bonfire. Evie and Doug had just gotten some firewood as they joined their friends around the bonfire. Jane and Lonnie were quick to get a seat on one of the logs as Uma and Gil followed. Jay and Carlos rushed forward towards the last seat shoving each other out of the way. Laughing the whole way. Ben looked around at everyone as he frowned noticing the Hooks weren’t here yet. Looking down at his clasped hands in sadness, but a quick squeeze from Mal’s hand had him looking up as she squeezed she spoke, “They’ll be there, they are not one for keeping time!” she laughed as Jay pointed at Jane who frowned at their behaviour. Before joining in the laughter with a giggle that made Carlos smile.

A scream of delight shrieked around the area they were in. Evie clutched Doug as the two looked around frankly. Harriett was running towards them with CJ and Anthony on their tails. Mal smiled, calming down only to jump when the screams of laughter erupted around the area. Everyone stood up on defence, the Hooks didn’t look bothered as they made themselves comfortable around the bonfire confusing the others. CJ reached for the food, fighting with Gil and Jay for a marshmello, the three ignoring everyone’s behaviour. Harriett reprimanded CJ’s behaviour avoiding a piece of cracker aiming at her from none other than the culprit CJ. Anthony gulped as the two sisters grinned evilly at one another as they grabbed sticks and fought for the treats in between them and the two boys who became referees to see who would win. Anthony stayed away taking a seat next to the young royals. The laughter got closer before the noise got louder as two vehicles shot out of the forbidden forest as they circled the bonfire before coming to a stop behind Mal and Ben. Jay got a glimpse of two dirt bikes with two riders on each bike. The smaller ones jumped off the bikes taking their helmets off to reveal the Smee twins. The older ones got off more carefully before pulling their helmets off to reveal Harry and Diego.

Evie’s heart was racing as she watched the smee twins run over to Carlos before tackling him to the ground. She smiled wondering why Diego de vil was here. Ben spoke through the excitement of the twins, “Harry I’m glad you could make it, but you are aware I said 14:00 not 15:15”, Harry looked at Ben in disbelief and concern as he spoke, “Aye na, but I was busy and its 14:15, get ya facts right”. Ben smiled when he heard the accent return but that faltered as Harry began coughing and Diego started patting his back. A few colourful words left Harry’s mouth once he stopped coughing as he ducked under his sister's attempted slap. 

The Smee twins looked up at Harry before steering him towards the bonfire. Diego followed before seating himself on the log next to Carlos as Harry sat at his feet with the twins in his arms. Diego started absently playing with his hair ignoring the looks Gil and Uma were directing their way. Harry joked “Ben get to the point why we are here as I have places to be”, that earned him a slap off Carlos in a playful manner. It was true he did have places to be. 

Ben laughed as he replied, “Harry I’m sorry we are taking up your precious eyeliner time, but the world is at stake and we need to borrow your eyeliner to save the day”, Harry sent a glare his way before laughing with Ben. The Smee twins playing with the buckles on Harry's leather jacket since he had pulled his motorcycle overalls open to hang on his hips. “Anyway Harry we just thought a good catch up with one another would be good as some of us are leaving to go on an important mission today?” Mal exclaimed as she waved her arms around. Looking around brought a smirk to his face as he watched his sister CJ put marshmallows in a victim's hair and the poor victim turned out to be Jay. Ooh that will take some struggle to get out of his hair. Harry chuckled to himself sharing a look with Gil who giggled out loud. Sadly revealing what CJ was doing, as Jay ran his hands through his hair answering Evie only to pull his hand out to reveal stickiness. “CJ?!” who just laughed moving to the other side of Anthony leaving poor him in the middle of both Jay and CJ. The conversation continued as many of them told each other what they had been up to. Harry struggled to focus as he played with the twins and Diego played with his hair. He just felt happy at that moment. Up to this point, Ben asked “Harry, what have you been up to on your adventures?”. Harry replied, “Same old same old” which he got slapped by CJ as she passed moving out of Jay’s range. Harry sighed wondering what to say but he was saved as Diego cut in, “Me and Harry got engaged and in case no one knew who I was. My name is Diego de vil and I will be teaching you how to deal with Harry 24/7” he laughed as he avoided a swat of Harry. 

Looking around the Bonfire Harry wished he had a camera at the priceless looks of everyone sitting around the fire. Thankfully Harriett Hook had that covered as she took a picture that she would hold dearly to her heart as her brother looked happy in the picture for once in a while. The shrill of a phone brought everyone back to Planet Earth, a few curse words emitted from Harry’s mouth, as he stalked to the edge of the forest where his bike was as he answered the phone. Diego could tell from his stance that Harry was angry as he spoke on the phone. Once the conversation was over, everyone witnessed Harry throw a knife at a tree from his boot. Diego quickly made his way over to Harry as he grabbed the knife and put his hands on Harry's shoulders. A few wild gestures were made as the others watched on not hearing a single word of their conversation. 

All of a sudden Harry was moving onto his bike before racing it through the forbidden forest out of sight from everyone. Diego came jogging over to Harriett before whispering something in her ear. She nodded as Diego all but sprinted to his bike before following his lover into the forbidden forest. Leaving Harriett to deal with the situation…

Anthony thankfully took the opportunity to tell everyone some great news after a confirmation nod from Harriett, he spoke in excitement, “We want to share some great news with everyone” he received everyone’s attention including the smee twins who wrapped their arms around his waist ruffling their hats before he continuing, “Harriett’s pregnant, baby two is on the way”. Cheers emitted around the camp as the couple received many congratulations and pats on the back. Ben and Mal smiled as they knew the feeling as they thought of their daughter who was with Ben's parents for the day.

Carlos couldn’t stop the nerves as he stared at where his older brother had disappeared too about 30 minutes ago. A ping from Harriett’s phone brought everyone’s attention to her. She smiled at the phone before turning to the group, “Harry and Diego have invited all of us to a dinner before you guys are to take off for your mission. They are sorry for their departure and are so excited for this dinner”, everyone could hear the sarcasm in her voice as she continued “Diego says if all of us could meet him at the bridge at 16:00, he will pick us all up and drive us to the destination”.

Everyone shared looks to one another before nodding at Harriett. Noticing the time, Anthony left to go pick up his daughter as he said, “I will meet you there, I’ve got to go pick up Alice'' and with that he was gone. The Smee twins stood looking at Harriett who confirmed they could come.
