"I'm almost done. Feel free to do anything you need to do."
"Ah thank Squidward!" Ayana hopped off her moms lap and sprinted to the bathroom.
"Yeah I need to go too so..." Eijirou added, slipping out from behind his mother and quickly made his way to the master bedroom. Katsuki guessed there was another bathroom in there.
And he had honestly thought he'd feel awkward being alone with this beautiful man's mother, but it wasn't like that at all. She had this calming presence that he wouldn't mind being around from time to time. A lot more comforting than his therapist, that's for sure.
"Bakugou," she called out quietly. It made him flinch, and he leaned to the side with haste to see what she had to say. He wondered if he did something to make her angry or annoyed with him. "Do you mind if I watch you paint?"
"Oh." Katsuki unexpectedly raised his brows, and in turn, Ms. Kirishima did the same. He seemed to think deeply for a moment. A deep and painful expression flashed over his eyes before it morphed into a look of slight embarrassment.
It made Ms. Kirishima curious as to why Katsuki was so hesitant when his attitude and postures practically screamed absolute confidence.
She smiled when he curtly nodded, and realized he must've not have expected her to be all that interested in him. She took a seat behind him while he finished up the painting.
"It's so beautiful!" she exclaimed.
"Thanks."
Niether of them said anymore. And Katsuki fell back into his zone. He was fixing the finer details of Eijirou's hair, and he found that he really enjoyed the vividness of the colour.
"It's funny," Ms. Kirishima voiced, "You paint him like you've memorized every detail about him."
"It's hard not to when he's engraved in my line of vision 24-7."
"Sounds like you like him."
"Hah?!" Bakugou blushed and whipped around to face her. Ayana had already exited the bathroom and made herself comfortable on her mom's lap.
"I think so too," said the little girl. A cheeky smirk formed on both of their faces and left Bakugou stumbling over his words.
"Shush."
"Oh," Ms. Kirishima raised her brows, "so your not denying that you like him?"
"He's my best friend," Katsuki stated, glancing at the bedroom door to see if Eijirou had come out yet. He was taking an abnormal amount of time to use the bathroom.
"Are you saying you have a crush on him because he's your best friend?" Ayana pried. Unlike before, Ms. Kirishima did nothing nor said anything to control her daughter's mouth.
Katsuki stopped painting and turned towards the two who were obviously and anxiously awaiting his answer. Since he's being pummeled by personal questions, he might as well ask one back.
"You don't care if your son dates a guy?"
"Not at all!" She beamed her beautiful grin like the proud mother she was. "As long as he's happy and successful, that's all that matters to me."
Katsuki softly smiled. He was relieved.
"That's cool."
But even though he smiled, there was a rooted sadness in the way his lips twitched. He couldn't help but be jealous of Kirishima, for growing up surrounded by a loving family. Katsuki never really had that. He had his caring and overly loving dad, but even he was barely there when it counted.
