Chapter 18 - Spaces

*Skye's P.O.V.*

"Guess what bitches?!" I said as I set my tray down on the lunch table, joining the other three. "My favorite holiday is coming up!"

"Christmas?" Percy asked.

"What? No! Halloween!" I told him.

"Oh, Christmas is my favorite holiday" Percy told us.

"Christmas was my favorite holiday until we came to America and I heard about Thanksgiving and all the food. Now it's a tie" Niall told us.

"Surprise, surprise" Percy replied, rolling his eyes at how much Niall enjoys eating. Niall reached over and pushed Percy out of his chair with ease. "Asshole" Percy replied, getting up and sitting back in his chair, scooting it out of Niall's reach. Let's just say Niall is more... built than Percy.

"Get away from me, weirdo" Monique, who is in a bad mood, said, also pushing Percy out of his chair.

"You people are so hateful" he said, pushing his chair back where it originally was.

"What's your favorite holiday Monique?" Niall asked, making conversation.

"Fuck off" she replied.

"Answer the question" he said sternly.

"I said, fuck off"

"Not until you answer the question" she sighed in defeat, wanting to shut him up.

"Christmas. Whose isn't?"

"Me, I just said that" I replied.

"I wasn't talking to you, it was a rhetorical question" she grumpily replied, pushing me out of my chair. Niall reached over and helped me up.

"How come no one helped me up?" Percy whined. Niall rolled his eyes.

"What's your problem?" Niall asked her, ignoring Percy.

"None of your damn business"

"Answer the fucking question" he replied, losing his patience with her already.

"Fuck off"

"Why are you being such a bitch?"

"Why are you being such a dick?" She retorted.

"I'm not being a dick, you're being a bitch"

"Bullshit, you're always being a dick"

"And you're always being a bitch"

Percy and I awkwardly sat there in silence while the two continued to yell at each other. I picked at my burger, too uncomfortable to eat.

"I'm not a bitch. If you want to see a bitch, go hang out with your ex girlfriend Alicia" Monique argued, saying Alicia's name mockingly.

"Why do you have to bring her into this? She has nothing to do with this!"

"She kinda does. Every time anyone mentions her name, you turn into instant dick"

"I do not!" He replied, defending himself.

"Yes, you do! You're clearly still in love with her!"

"I AM NOT!" He yelled. The entire cafeteria looked at us, hearing him yell. They didn't know what he was yelling about, but they wanted to see a fight.

"YES, YOU ARE! IT'S OBVIOUS! Right Skye?" She said, dragging me into this. They both angrily looked at me.

"Please don't bring me into this" I quietly said, looking down, slowly eating my French fries.

"You're full of shit, Monique" Niall said, getting up and walking off.

"Thanks for backing me up" Monique said sarcastically, also storming off.

Percy and I sat there in silence for a few minutes until everyone in the cafeteria finally continued their conversations.

We awkwardly ate in silence until I decided to start a conversation.

"Are you going to the Halloween party at Andre Hyland's on Saturday?"

Sorry, it's a little on the short side.

It's weird writing about Halloween in April, but I couldn't start the book at the beginning of the second semester because it wouldn't make sense with all of the events over the summer. Besides it would probably be better over a year.
