Chapter 36 - Hello Fascination

*Skye's P.O.V.*

Today is the day of Maura and Chris' wedding and I promised Maura I'd help her get ready.

"This may sound a bit silly, but I'm nervous" Maura told me.

"It's normal for people to be nervous on their wedding day" I told her as I styled her hair.

"Yeah, but I've done this before"

"It's still normal for you to be nervous"

"Are you gonna stay for the wedding? Niall said the two of you had an argument"

"I don't know if Niall wants me too" I confessed.

"Well I don't care if he wants you to stay or not. You're my guest and you're staying" she said.

"Niall won't be too happy about this"

"What did you too fight over anyway?"

"He thought I was out cheating on him when I was hanging out with Monique and her boyfriend Vic"

"Why would he think that?" Maura asked as I finished her hair and started doing her makeup.

"Alicia cheated on him with Nathan, who was one of his best friends. I think he's paranoid that it's gonna happen again" I told her.

"I wondered why I never saw Nathan again after Niall and Alicia broke up. Poor Niall. I never liked Alicia" Maura said as I finished her makeup.

"Finished. You're ready to walk down the aisle" I told her.

"Alright, you go ahead and sit down so we can get started"

"Okay" I said before leaving to go sit down. I must've caught Niall's eye, because he slowly walked over to me from where he was standing with the other groomsmen.

"What are you doing here?" He whispered after he sat down next to me casually, attempting to avoid unwanted attention.

"I was invited" I whispered in response.

"I invited my girlfriend, not a cheating slut"

"I didn't cheat on you, you asshole. Your mom told me to stay and technically, I'm still your girlfriend. Now go stand back up there, your mom's about to walk down the aisle" I told him. Glaring at me, he got up and returned to his position next to his brother.

After the wedding, we went to the reception. I looked around for the table with my name.

When I finally found my name, I sat down and Niall, Denise, and Greg joined me a few minutes later.

Niall and I ate in silence, occasionally joining the conversation Greg and Denise were having.

After we ate, Everyone started dancing. Niall danced with his grandmother and I was talking to one of Niall's friends from Ireland named Sean.

Niall and I avoided each other for the rest of the night. After staying for a while, I congratulated Maura and Chris before leaving, not saying goodbye to Niall.

*Niall's P.O.V.*

After the reception, I started making my way to the exit.

"Congratulations" I said, hugging my mum and my new stepfather. After I talked to them for a few minutes, I walked over to Greg.

"I'm gonna head home" I told him. "Where's Skye? I should probably take her home"

"She already left. Is everything okay between you two?"

"Yeah, just a little argument" I told him as I walked off.

I climbed into my car and drove off. I was kind of hungry and low on gas, so I pulled into the next gas station and went inside to get something to eat.

"Aren't you a little overdressed to be in a convenience store?" A familiar voice said to me.

"Alicia? What are you doing here?" I asked, grabbing food.

"I'm on my way home from a party at Lyndsey's. What about you?"

"Me mum got remarried" I said, avoiding eye contact. I shouldn't be talking to her. I should be ignoring her.

"That suit looks nice on you" she said in a flirty manner, reaching up to play with my hair.

"Shouldn't you be with your boyfriend right now?" I asked, pushing her hand away, walking towards the cashier.

"Who? Nathan? He cheated on me"

"Karma's a bitch, isn't it?" I chuckled.

"What?" She asked as I paid the cashier. I ignored her. "What's so funny about that?"

"Everything"

"That's rude" she replied.

"So? I don't feel bad for you" I shrugged, exiting the store. After my gas tank was full, I got back in my car and drove home.
