Chapter 35 - A Love Like War

*Skye's P.O.V.*

It's almost spring break and things with Niall have been great so far. We've been dating for about two months. Some people still bother us, but not as much as they used to. Alicia is really the only one still bothered by us.

Today Niall is with his family doing last minute wedding preparations since Maura's wedding is in a few days.

M: What are you doing today?

S: Nothing.

M: Wanna come hang with me? You can meet Vic. He's in town!

S: Alright, sounds great!

I entered the restaurant and sat down at the same table as Monique and a guy I didn't recognize that I assumed was Vic.

"Hey Skye, this is Vic" Monique said, introducing us. He was tan with dark hair.

"Nice to meet you, Monique's told me about you"

"All good things I hope" he laughed.

"Of course!" Monique replied.

We laughed and talked for a while. I really like Vic, he and Monique are perfect together.

"I'll be right back. I've gotta go to the ladies room" Monique said, getting up from the table.

"Where's your boyfriend? I thought Monique said I was gonna get to meet him" Vic asked.

"You will, he's just busy today. He's helping his mom and future stepdad with some last minute wedding preparations" I told him.

*Niall's P.O.V.*

"Come on Niall" Greg called.

"I'm coming" I replied. Greg and I have been helping Mum and Chris with last minute wedding preparations all day and right now Greg and I are picking up a few things for them.

I looked inside of a restaurant as I passed by and I froze. Skye was sitting at a table across from some guy. They were laughing about something he said. It wasn't Percy or her cousin Xander, I didn't recognize him at all.

My jaw clenched and I was going to go inside find out who he is when I heard Greg calling my name again.

"What the hell Niall?! We've gotta hurry, we have tons of things to do!"

"I'm coming" I said, jogging to catch up to him.

Later that night, I was in my room at my mum's house, scrolling through Instagram, when there was a knock at my bedroom door.

"Come in" I called, not moving from my bed. My bedroom door opened and closed.

"Hey Niall" Skye said, sitting on the bed next to me.

"Hey, how was your date?" I said, completely uninterested, my eyes not leaving my phone.

"Date? What are you talking about?" She asked, completely confused. I hit the lock button on my phone before placing it on my bedside table and sitting up to face her.

"Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. I saw the two of you together!"

"You must be thinking of someone else. I wasn't on a date"

"Bullshit! I saw you! The two of you were at a restaurant on Main Street together earlier!"

"I wasn't on a date! That's Vic, Monique's boyfriend! We were gonna meet him together, but you were busy today, so I met him today and Monique is going to let you meet him another time"

"If that was supposedly Monique's boyfriend, then where was Monique?"

"She was there! You probably walked by when she went to the bathroom"

"How convenient" I muttered sarcastically, rolling my eyes.

"You don't believe me?"

"Of course not! I've been cheated on before Skye! I'm not stupid!"

"I'm not cheating on you! I just barely became comfortable with the idea of having a boyfriend a couple months ago. What makes you think I'd be comfortable with two boyfriends?" She retorted.

"Maybe the fact that you were on a fucking date!"

"I wasn't on a date! Look on Monique's Instagram! She posted a picture with him that clearly says that he is her boyfriend"

"I'm sure she really appreciates her best friend going out on a date with him"

"We weren't on a date!"

"Bullshit"

"Whatever. I've never done anything to betray your trust. If you don't believe me, then that's your problem. I'm leaving" she said before exiting the room.
