the sound of her growling stomach was a big reminder to her that she unintentionally skipped all of her meals for the day.

she left the house early in the morning on a whim and couldn't even visit the bistro because of how late she was running, and exactly today her constructing professor thought it would be a great idea to add another extra hour to the class.

she had to rush home after it ended to still have time to prepare all that's needed for the movie night.

well, it didn't take up as much time as she thought it would but still — the microwave popcorn didn't make itself.

"great." she mumbled under her breath as she eyed her own stomach. not only did she feel lazy to cook something for herself but she also felt like there was no time to do it since mike is set to arrive any second.

she nibbled down her bottom lip as she looked at the bowls of potato chips and popcorn in her hands. stuffing that in her mouth would probably enough, right? at least to keep her stomach quiet.

the various bowls were carried from the kitchen to the coffee table in the living room, she made sure to have a variety of snacks for their disney night — from salted pretzels to all kinds of gummy bears.

just as she set some cold cans of soda next to the snacks, she heard the bell ringing as if he came right on cue.

her eyes glided over the table one last time before she gave herself a small nod and made her way to open the door.

the familiar sight of him captured her vision when she opened it, he was lazily leaning against the doorframe with one shoulder. "hi." he greeted her, "am i too late?"

"no, no, you're right on time." she answered with a small smile on her face, "just finished setting everything up."

he nodded his head at her and pushed his shoulder away from the doorframe to stand straight. "alright, i hope you're hungry because i risked being late to visit the new burger place and get us something."

when he held two brown paper bags with one hand up, el felt her knees weakening right in that instant and felt how her stomach was about to ripple in another growl.

"oh, my god." she placed her hand on her chest, "you have no idea what kind of favor you're doing me right now."

he handed her the paper bags over and made his way in, "i assume you're hungry then?"

"very." she sighed out and carried the food in her arms towards the kitchen, he followed her closely behind. "i didn't eat for the whole day so this is truly, like, saving my day."

he halted right next to her when she put the bags on the table and watched her impatiently sit on a chair and rip the paper open. his eyebrows creased, "you didn't eat for the whole day? why?"

too immersed by the food, el was already eating the warm fries in utter satisfaction. "i had no time, it was a busy day." she nonchalantly shrugged.

he shook his head at the answer and sat on the chair on the opposite direction, he ripped the paper even further and pushed the two burger boxes right in her direction. "i didn't know what type of burgers you like so i bought a cheeseburger and a chicken burger, we can trade if you want."

"no, no, it's perfect." she shook her head and shot him a genuine smile over, "thank you."

he still kept looking at her rather suspiciously as he reached for his own food. "since you haven't eaten at all today, will that be enough for you? you can have my fries or one of my burgers if you want."

she stopped chewing for a second, blinked a couple times and reached for one of her burgers. "that's really nice of you but this is really enough — thanks again."
