did she regret asking mike wheeler into something as stupid as being her pretend boyfriend? maybe she should.

but she doesn't.

she's aware that this could blow in their faces, that if anyone ever found out that they are simply acting for revenge.. it would ruin her so ways that she'd be unable to recover from it.

but the plan was just folding itself perfectly out in her mind, she was thinking about absolutely everything.

there would be no gaps or missing dots in the story they would present, she was smart enough to cover it all.

so, instead of dragging it out, she met mike the next day right after and drove him to her house.

"no one's here." she announced when she walked in and let him follow her right behind. "make yourself at home."

he silently let his eyes graze over the house without much thought — it was rather big and seemed personal by the family pictures that decorated the walls.

he simply followed her behind when she was taking steps towards the stairs, her voice resounded again. "i wanted us to be alone so we could get over with this without anyone eavesdropping."

he gave no response, not even a sigh or sound of acknowledgment. she continued. "and i'd rather have it that we finish this soon, will is gonna be back in an hour."

will is her step-brother and even though they aren't blood related, he felt like a real brother to her. or more like a twin with the way their ages lay so close to another. she's been living with him since she's six years old; which means, ever since she can actually think and remember.

her father and his mother had a short fling in their high school years and it seemed like neither of them ever got over the other. when they both coincidentally met again after all those years - both single at the time - they noticed that their spark had never died down.

it took them merely a year to reconnect again and decide that they should be a constant in each other's life. to put it simple, they married - and she grew up knowing all of them as her family.

both of them were still back in hawkins as will and her moved away to chicago. will is pursuing his talent in an art school while el is studying architecture.

they both were insanely lucky that they got to live in her grandmother's old house instead of renting an apartment or living in dorms.

"believe me, el. i'm not dying to spend more time with you than necessary." he answered, "the sooner we finish with this, the better."

she had to control every bit within herself to not roll her eyes at him. what a fucking asshole.

without announcing anything or making a big deal out of it, she opened the door to her room. she stepped aside to invite him in, looking at him with the corner of her eyes to brace herself for any type of mocking comment he would leave behind.

her room gloomed darkly — most of her furniture was black, her desk was black and even the frame of her bed was black. much to a contrast, the walls were brightly white and decorated with several posters with a variety of bands, tv shows, movies and some personal pictures.

but he didn't say anything, he simply let his eyes trace over the place with a hint of surprise in his gaze.

she let both of them stay in silence for a couple seconds before pulling the chair in front of her desk away to sit on it. "i thought of everything, including the rules, since i'm pretty sure you didn't waste a single thought on what story we should tell when people ask us how we happened."
