the constant vibrations of her phone was starting to stir her awake as if an annoying fly was buzzing around her head on a warm summer day.

she squeezed her eyes shut tight as if that would somehow drown the sound and make her automatically sleep again — which obviously didn't happen.

the more she was waking up, the more of her surroundings she started to notice behind her closed eyelids. she noticed that a sliver of skin was peeking through between her pajama pants and shirt. she noticed that her hair wasn't in a neat bun anymore like it was before she went to sleep.

she noticed that the hotel room was cold enough to let goosebumps erupt through her body.

she also noticed that an unfamiliar scent was filling her nostrils with each breath that she took. it smelt like cedar, mint soap with a hint of sweat.

her nose subconsciously leaned closer towards the source of the scent to catch a better whiff of it. only when her nose bumped against a surface did she notice that she couldn't get any nearer.

or, wait, it wasn't just a surface. it was something solid — warm, and the scent was even stronger here.

she sniffed it a couple more times, a satisfied smile settled on her face.

she liked it.

all until the haze of her sleepiness started to slowly dissipate, her mind was getting clearer second by second. the realization that the warmth she was feeling was radiating from another body hit her almost at the same time as her remembering that she was sharing a bed with mike.

her eyes tore open in an instant, with fear on her face, she tilted her head up to see whether he was awake to notice what she was doing or not — thankfully for her, he still seemed to be in a deep slumber.

a sigh of relief left her lips, her body relaxed instantly. she doesn't even know how she would be able to explain herself if he'd caught what she had just been doing.

come to think of it — how did they end up in this position anyway? with her limps thrown over his and her face smushed in the crook of his neck? last she remembers, her back was turned to him before falling asleep.

she hates to admit it but it was her who went all up in his personal space, it was her who threw herself on him and tangled them together.

all she was hoping now is that mike didn't notice the way she snuggled up to him and that he is one of those people who practically cosplay a dead corpse while sleeping. dear god, please.

she pressed her lips together in order to control her breathing, she wanted to be as silent and smooth as possible as she was untangling herself from him. she peeled her arm away from his waist and lifted her legs slowly.

she threw glances over at him constantly to check if he was twitching awake or not — much to her luck, he was still in the exact same position.

a little breath of relief left her mouth when she successfully removed herself from him, instead of dwelling on her thoughts of him any longer, she turned around to grasp the device that rattled her awake.

her phone was imploded with messages from the lovebirds and the cooler other three groupchat, they were spamming as if they weren't already in a room together. she skimmed through the texts and found the one that stood out the most.
