Our wedding takes place outdoors, and there isn't much "wedding" to it. Sure, we walk down an aisle and get told an allegory about love, but there isn't a priest or monk or officiant in sight. When we discussed what we wanted to happen, we didn't pick our number one desires - those are for actual nuptials in the future. I'm not even wearing a white dress, but a pale violet one, with yards of tulle. Sangil is in a gray suit with a violet button down shirt.
Sangil has his group members with him, and I have five celebrity friends. None of whom have been on WGM with me before. When I found out how popular it was among my friends to want on the show, I decided to try and get as many of them on as I could. After the "ceremony" we have drinks and appetizers before we play some games.
In the late afternoon I take Snuper to the Yama & Co entertainment building, where I have a surprise planned. I've been practicing with my idol friends for the past few weeks to learn a dance routine.
When we enter their rehearsal room Woosung exclaims, "Nice practice room." It is very nice - my sister didn't spare expenses because idols are in here a lot.
"Oh, sorry, Sangil, I forgot something. Can you guys hang out here until I get back?" He nods, and I squeeze his forearm. "Thanks."
Then I exit and quickly go next door, where my friends hand me my outfit. I change as fast as I can. The six of us are dressed identical in white one-shouldered dresses with a skirt that is layered and falls open over the thigh during movement. We make our quiet barefoot way back to the practice room, where a girl who isn't dancing opens the door and turns off the lights. As Snuper call out amid the confusion, we make our way to the front. Then some of the lights are turned back on, and Snuper see us standing in a single file line (technically I suppose they can only see Okura, who's at the front).
When thunder and rain boom out over the speakers, Snuper cheer. Yes, we are dancing to It's Raining. I'm dancing Sangil's part, while the girls drew straws for the other parts. Kotera, who has Suhyun's part, went as far as getting a fake tattoo. Not on her collarbone but on her thigh, where it peeks out during intense choreo. I smile when I hear Sebin say some of the fan chant. At last we turn on our heels and walk away from the audience, turning our head to the right as the notes and rain fade away.
I stumble forward as Sangil gives me a back hug. "You were amazing," he whispers into my ear.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it."
"It must have taken you a long time to learn the choreo."
I almost shrug it off, but the truth is it did take me a while. "Yeah, a bit."
Snuper is meeting the girls, telling them what a great job they did. I hear Suhyun ask if he can take a closer look at Kotera's tattoo. "Fake?"
She nods. "Yes, I got it for this performance."
"I'm flattered."
Snuper ask if they can dance to one of their songs, and since they're from two different groups they get the rest of their members to come so they can indulge them.
"Mika-chan!" yells Suhyun when Fujiwara, whom he was paired up with in France, shows up. Taewoong smiles and waves at Takahashi Makino.
First Akagi, the group Makino is in, dances to their latest comeback, an upbeat track with energetic choreography. Then Mika's group performs their sexy debut song. Snuper clap for both.
"Neither song had any rap," notes Sangho. "I guess I've come to expect it in a pop song."
"You're right," agrees Sebin. "K-pop songs almost always have rap. Even the ballads."
We're walking down the hallway when the girls pull open the door to the small auditorium and usher me inside. "You should show them the stage," they say.
"Okay," I agree, confused. "But you guys left them outside."
"Just sit down here." They push me into a seat front and center.
Did Snuper prepare a surprise for me, too? What a day this is turning out to be. The curtains are pulled back and the stage lights burst on, causing me to slightly jump in my seat. Snuper are arrayed in a V, with Sangil in the center. As the music starts and they dance, I can't place what song it is. It isn't until the English line "Say yes" that I vaguely remember. Baby, will you marry me?
And then the song ends with Sangil whispering, I say yes.
I clap, which starts the rest of the girls clapping, too. Then I stand up and say, "Yes, I will marry you. In fact, I just did this morning."
Sangil jumps off the stage and comes to take my hands. "I know, but it didn't work out to perform this earlier."
"It's okay, I loved it. But we have to leave for our honeymoon now." We say goodbye to Snuper and the girls, then go to our evening destination. A bay where the sea glows from tiny bioluminescent shrimp. You can't see the shrimp with the naked eye, so it looks like the sea is illuminated with blue light from within. We splash in the waves, twirl around, and have a romantic time. I take a stick and draw in the wet sand. A big heart with GS + SS. Then I take a picture before it gets walked on by others or washed away by the waves.
That night we fly to Hokkaido, and are so tired that we crash as soon as our heads hit the pillow.
