I'm sitting in a room with Alex, George, and Lando. We were told to show the others why we deserve the title "Rookie of the Year".
"Where's Antonio? He should be here," I demand, glancing around.
"Maybe he's not here because he drove an F1 car prior to 2019," says George, who is standing at the front, ready to begin. "As you know, I love a power point presentation," he begins. "I've created a power point to show you why I am the rookie of the year." He proceeds to show us "facts" about his consistency, qualifying position, good starts, and point difference between him and his teammate.
Alex is next, with a rap and accompanying pictures. After roasting Lando and George he moves on to me. I sit up straight and listen.
"Here we have Sochi, the only girl.
Who decided to give F1 a whirl.
She drove for Nissan, since she's Japanese.
Who else would have her? Please.
If George is king of shirtless,
Then she is queen of dresses,
Along with her fancy jewelry
And midnight tresses.
Not just a racing driver;
She also married Mr. Shim.
You can watch them on the telly
'Til you've had your fill of them.
Wife or driver, girl or bore,
I'm not sure which she's more famous for."
"I'm not a bore!" I interject. After patiently waiting for him to finish the last part, during which he lauds himself, I add, "Rap? That was more like poetry hour. Let me give you some advice: Don't quit your day job, mate." But George and Lando applaud, telling him it was impressive.
After Lando shows his short video, I stand up and move to the front of the room. I get my presentation ready. "The reason I deserve to win rookie of the year is because I set or broke many records."
"If your records are anything like George's 'facts'..." says Alex, shaking his head to indicate his potential dissatisfaction.
I raise my eyebrows at him. "Most points scored in a debut race by a female driver," I start.
"I knew it!" exclaims Lando, slamming his fist against the table a la Toto Wolff.
"Most points scored during a race by a female driver. Most points scored in a season by a female driver."
"Does every record end with 'female driver'?" asks George. "Even I didn't go that far."
"Fastest lap times. Driver of the day. Best qualifying." I quickly flip through my slides. "There are dozens, I won't bore you, but these are legitimate records, my friends. And I end with some epithets the fans gave me. These are not for female drivers, but out of all the drivers this season. Least likely to swear. Most polite. Longest hair. Shortest driver."
"So you finally admit it?" demands Lando. We're both 170 centimeters tall, yet he claims to be just a tad taller than I am.
"If it makes you feel better about yourself, then yes."
Alex has his head in his hands, his disappointment in me fully evident. "That was boring. Too long."
"I can't help it if I set that many records."
"Did you have any records that were compared to us?" asks George.
"Yes." I flip back through the slides. "Longest point scoring streak and longest time without crashing."
After this we vote, and Alex wins. We hand him the LEGO trophy. He pours Red Bull into it (instead of champagne) and takes a swig.

I already posted a scene from this earlier. Daughter of Lupin. There are 2 seasons and a movie. It's funny, it has "musical" bits, and the action scenes are good (the male lead often does his own stunts). But it can be corny in places.
