Readers,

I'm so sorry. I don't have the time to write. So I'll post what bits I do have written, with little summaries about what I wanted to happen. If I come back to this, I'll embellish the short narrations.

My grandparents live in Hokkaido. They are farmers, growing the super expensive, sweet Densuke watermelons, which sell for close to one hundred dollars a piece. I used to visit them a few times a year, both in the summer and winter, but this is the first time I've come this year, since I was very busy with F1. After Sangil and I wake up and eat, we drive to their farm.

They must have heard the car turn into the driveway because they are standing on the porch when we get out.

"Obaasan, ojiisan!" I exclaim, hugging them both. "I've missed you so much!"

"It's been months since we've seen you," says my grandma, putting me at arm's length. "You've grown even prettier."

"I watch all your races," says my grandpa. "You're doing extremely well."

"Thank you."

"You should hear him brag to his friends," my grandma chips in. "Well, don't just stand here, come in, come in."

We spend the late morning and early afternoon with my grandparents, and then go on a hike. At the top of the mountain we have a picnic. That night we watch fireflies in the dark forest. There are so many that they twinkle like Christmas lights.

We fly back to Tokyo the next morning. Snuper and five of my celebrity friends gather at our apartment where we have a housewarming party. We make food as we get to know each other. In the evening we go to a matsuri (festival) where we watch traditional dancing, participate in lots of carnival games (most of which we are not good at), and eat food. I dress in a green yukata. Sangil and I watch the fireworks from the top of hill as we eat shaved ice.

Love Festival (Koi Matsuri) by NEWS is the perfect song for summer. Unfortunately on YouTube there is only a 1 minute clip from their live or this night core version. The sound of the fireworks being sent up & exploding at 5e end is the cherry on top.
