Formula One films the drivers opening their secret Santa gifts before practice in Abu Dhabi. I hope Lewis likes the gift I ended up buying - Russian vodka and Japanese sake. The staff hands me a tiny box wrapped in a festive design.
"They say good things come in small packages," I say before ripping it open. I pop the lid and exclaim. "Earrings!" I lift them out and laugh when I realize that it's a set of four miniature Pirelli tires. Hard, medium, soft, and wet. You can tell the difference by the ring of color.
"Who do you think got them for you?" ask the staff.
"It could be anyone. My outfits and jewelry were the talk of press conferences sometimes. I think there's even a Twitter account dedicated to my attire that gets updated every race weekend." I bite my lip. "Seb?"
"No."
After a few guesses they tell me. "Lewis."
I laugh. "What a coincidence. I'm his secret Santa." I take my earrings out and put the tire ones in. "How do I look?" I ask, turning my head left and right.
"Gorgeous."
