"Ashley!"
The snow girl lifted her head listlessly. Her face was a crowd of cumulative tears that didn't see to halt even with Danny stood above her.
She saw his worried expression and then rolled her whole face into the cushion. Danny chewed on the inside of his lip, and then got down onto his knees. He lifted the pieces of hair that covered the left side of her face and then wiped some of the tears that he could make out on her cheek away.
"What happened?" He asked her softly. The snow girl sighed, she leaned into his touch but didn't turn over. "Ash?"
When she didn't reply again, Danny pulled up to his full height and then lifted her weightless body off the bed. "Danny!" she screeched. He went to the window but then decided against it, especially with Ashley on his back. So instead he carefully glided down the stairs while Ashley beat at his back.
"Danny I swear to the Moon Goddess that if you don't put me down I will personally tell Summer what really happened to her favourite dress!" she warned and he faltered.
He weighed his options with the tilt of his head and continued to the front door.
"Danny what are yo-" Andrea stood in the lounge doorway looking very confused. "I'm just going to need to borrow your daughter for a little while Ms Whithers," Danny replied informatively earning himself a chuckle from Mike who was sat down on the lounge sofa.
When Andrea nodded, Danny reached for the front door and opened it. "No Mum! Stop him!" Ashley pleaded but it was no use; Danny was already running.
Ashley closed her eyes after a while. She much preferred riding forward than upside down, it was starting to make her feel queasy. On some occasions, she made gagging noises to see if that would relent her friend. It didn't.
"Here we are," Danny muttered and pushed Ashley onto a high branch. He followed quickly with the ability to use both hands. He stood on the one below but kept his hands on the trunk and branch around her to prevent an escape.
Ashley stared scornfully at him. Why did he need to know everything? I'm meant to be keeping my distance and then he just comes and toys with my emotions by throwing me on his back? That can't happen!
Danny tried very hard to keep his smirk to himself after he read her thoughts. "What happened?" He finally asked, staring intently at the dried tears.
"Nothing, I was with Kye Latham," she shrugged, pointing the fact out casually just like Mia had taught her too. Danny gritted his teeth, so it was true what Mia had said.
"What did he do to you?" More demanding this time. Ashley tried to look anywhere but his eyes; doing so would just be telling him everything.
With that thought, Danny hooked his thumb and forefinger beauty her rounded chin and pulled her towards him. Their faces were inches away, his breath hit her lips and her own caught in the back of her throat.
"What did Kye do to you?" He asked slowly.
Her eyes dropped and she swallowed, "nothing," she said finally. Danny grit his teeth again and narrowed his eyes, "I swear to the Moon Godde-"
"Nothing happened Danny! I just freaked out, that's all! Typical Ashley." She gulped back more tears and looked away. I cry a lot! The thought crossed her mind and she allowed it to fill it thankfully.
Danny felt relieved, but still wasn't 100% sure on whether to believe her. Either way, he let what had been bugging him win out overall.
Sighing and running a hand through his now cropped hair, he groaned, "you gotta stop doing this to me Ash."
