They are one

The fire boy sat comfortably on the white bed with Ashley's head snug on his lap. She kept muttering and her lips twitched which Danny couldn't help but smile at.

As he picked up one strand of hair at a time he started to think about his dad; he would never see him again. Ashley, aside his mum, were the only ones he had left.

Danny was frightened of so many things: losing his family (half of which, he already had,) becoming Alpha of a pack that did not accept him, Ashley's father and his band of rogue wolves, but most of all, he was terrified of Ashley.

Scared of losing her and scared of being with her, kissing her, starting a family with her. It felt wrong in so many ways; she was and is his best friend. He hadn't thought of this before he marked her. I guess it's too late now, his wolf smirked.

Her hand sweeped accidentally past her neck and mark. Instantly her whole body tensed.

Danny began to think of alternatives routes out of her room when it was time to face her wrath. After all, he had told her that he believed her when he didn't and then took it upon himself to make things right. I can see why she might be angry, thought Danny.

One more twitch of her hand and her eyes fluttered open before a gasp filled the silence. Jumping up, Ashley strode into the ajoining bathroom, ignoring her mate.

Whilst Danny contemplated whether or not to leave, Ashley stared at her reflection in the mirror. Her eyes seemed to sparkle, even more so than the day she went home after the change. She felt lighter and older, like she had grown up into an older more beautiful woman over night. The snow girls hair had grown an inch and the split ends that Andrea had missed last time she cut her hair, were all but gone. She was amazed with how bright and soft it looked and felt.

Her skin, although polished to unnatural glossy perfection, was still pale as a sheet of paper. However, her eyes were awake and her hair full of volume. Her lips were rosey red and unusually clear of bite marks. Ashley ran a finger down her smoothened cheek, desperate to find an explanation for this new beauty. When she did, she almost fainted.

Two fading puncture wounds, a little red around the edges but otherwise concealed by the mark. A crescent snow white moon being consumed by a mesmerizing blaze of fire, that was the picture, so clear and finesse in its black and white form. It was so delicate and professional like a tattoo, Ashley was sure an actual person must have taken a long time doing it. Danny.

Ashley saw red.

She raced back into the room to find it empty. The windows were open and the curtains askew in the warm breeze.

Not taking a moments hesitation, Ashley flung herself from the stability of her room and soared through the air like a snow flake- but heavier. Gracefully she landed on ballerina points and took off in the direction of her best friends- and mate's- home.

The sun was just waking in the distance, setting an orange glow all along the tops of the mountains, as if someone had ran along the whole horizon and set ablaze the tops of the mountain. It's reddish smoke was rising into the dark of the night before.

The snow girl saw Danny's bedroom window open and yet again, without even thinking about it, grabbed the lowest branch of the nearby tree and launched herself at the next, then the next and then the window.

"Miss me?" she asked her startled mate. Ashley growled before bounding over to him on light toes and dragging him up from his laidback position against the back board.

She chucked him easily at the wall and sooner than he anticipated, followed.

Grabbing him by the throat, Ashley had to reach up an amount to grasp his foot taller frame. She then hastily pushed him back into the wall. Hearing a groan, Ashley smiled and let go of his throat to put power behind her hand which went soaring through the air and with an almighty sound, left Danny's cheek inflamed.
