Since you were working pretty much everyday and Lizzie was busy as well you barely saw each other, it was getting obvious to everyone around you

"have you talked to Lizzie recently?" Aubrey asked over the phone as you got ready for work early in the morning

"no but i think it's fine, i mean we're busy adults" you replied as you put your earrings in

"i've talked to her, maybe try and hang out" Aubrey said after a couple seconds

"yeah yeah, when i get time. listen i gotta go to work, but i'll talk later" you replied again

"yeah totally" Aubrey quickly got in before you hung up

you did miss Lizzie but this job demanded you be there a lot, and it was getting old. it seemed like you were the only person working every single day, even your coworkers were confused as they never got the same hours you were getting when they first started at the company.

you weren't completely complaining, you got the money you needed for rent and were set for a while in that department but it was getting to be a lot.

"here again, y/n?" your neighbour to the right said

"yeah i am, Beth" you said while yawning, "grind never stops, am i right?"

"yeah but a pause would be nice" she said quietly to you before turning back to her computer

you sat down at your desk, at this point you had began to decorate it with picture frames and decals like everyone else. you were still the newbie but less ignored which was nice.

one person who never ignored you was your boss, Carolina. she would come around every now and then, making small talk and making her rounds around the office area before getting into the elevator while looking at you.

she did this every so often, a couple times a week. not too much to the point where you knew what days but to the point where you knew you couldn't go a week without running into her

today was one of those days that you saw her, the ding of the elevator indicating her arrival

she walked out and made her way over to the far side of the office, talked with the supervisor before making her away all the way over to you

she stood in the entry way of your cubical, looking down at you to which you looked up at her. she smirked again, she did everyday when you looked up, must have been a power thing

"is that your girlfriend?" she asked, pointing towards a picture frame by your computer

you chuckled a little to yourself, "oh no that's my best friend Aria" you explained, holding it closer to her so she could have a closer look.

"you look younger in it" she replied

"high school" you said back, placing the frame back safety on your desk
