Lizzie sat on the couch in the marriage counsellors office far from Robbie, she was still frightened but he had told her that if she didn't go he would tell everyone about y/n and she couldn't let that happen

"so let's start by moving a bit closer" the counsellor smiled at the both of them, obviously not knowing that the distance between them was a very important thing

Lizzie hesitated for a moment, but in the end she scooted towards him anyway as she was still trying to make up for disappearing with you for a weekend

"very good, now let's start with the issues" he began, "who would like to begin?"

Robbie raised his hand, not hesitant at all with talking about the marriage. a marriage that had failed because of him, what lie had he prepared this time?

"Lizzie has been lying to me for months, sneaking around with another person behind my back. don't you think that's messed up, doc?" Robbie asked, which caused the Counsellor to shake his head

"i don't take sides, i'm here to listen and give you the tools to fix whatever is broken" he smiled, probably expecting his 'tools' to work. he then gestured over to Lizzie, giving her a chance to talk

"Y/n is only a friend, how many times do i have to tell you?" she said frustrated, why was that so hard for everyone to believe

"liar, i see the way you two look at each other. like that night in the garden, you realise the back door is glass right?" he huffed

"well, i- i seriously don't know what you're talking about. i'm just being friendly with your cousin, didn't you want me to get to know your family better?" lizzie asked innocently as if she hadn't kissed you the weekend before

Robbie became frustrated, Lizzie was standing up to him again and he couldn't do anything because they were in public

"okay okay, i think we should do some breathing exercises to calm everything down" the counsellor offered

god this was going to be a long day

as lizzie was listening to Robbies mouth breathing you were sitting under a tree trying to write

"i got our smoothies" you heard Aria say, sadness prevalent in her voice

"what's wrong, A?"

"i just don't like seeing you like this again, you were so happy when Lizzie was there and now.." she realised half way through that mentioning lizzie probably isn't the best idea

"well Lizzie isn't coming back so just forget it, i'll get over it soon" you huffed, clicking your pen and looking down at your notebook

it was always a mystery to what you were writing, it could either be a novel or a poem but this time it was a letter. a letter you would never send, a letter you would probably crumple up and throw in the next trashcan closest to you

the title spoke for itself,
just the wine

you didn't know why you were writing it, why you took the time to make every sentence perfect and why it held so much emotion. it's not like she would ever read it, let alone know you wrote it

you felt a presence looking over your shoulder, so you sighed and closed the notebook

"you say you'll get over it but you're writing about her.. i don't know y/n but i-" Aria tried to say again, you were getting frustrated

"just leave it!" you yelled, making parents and their children turn and stop playing. you were embarrassed, you didn't want anyone to see what a mess you had become so you got up and left

you threw the notebook on the ground as you left, you didn't want to even look at it.. knowing lizzie and you had matching ones

as you made it into your apartment, lizzie was only just finishing her couples therapy

"thank you for this, i feel like it really helped" Robbie smiled at the counsellor, shaking his hand for far too long

"it's no problem at all, i'll set up another meeting for next week"

lizzie rolled her eyes, that whole hour was torture. Robbies hand squeezing her leg every-time she said something out of line and the counsellor telling her things to help improve the marriage like it was actually capable of being fixed

if lizzie was being honest she missed you, she missed how free she felt with you. she didn't have to bite her tongue to stop herself from saying something, she didn't have to be afraid of you. she could just be herself and right now you were the only thing on her mind

"Lizzie? Elizabeth!" robbie called out, snapping his fingers in front of her face  "say goodbye to him"

"oh, goodbye and thank you" lizzie smiled, she didn't even try and hide the fact that it was fake

lizzie walked up the steps to her door, after a very uncomfortable car ride home. As she got to the last step she saw something leant against the door. it was brown and rectangular, but it looked familiar

Robbie let himself in while Lizzie knelt down to pick it up, she ran her fingers along the flower print on the front. she could smell the genuine leather so clearly, it reminded her of the day in the store with you

she stood up when she realised why it was so familiar, she flicked through some pages. her eyes landing on the name signed at the bottom of each one

Y/n Y/l/n

Lizzie looked around then smiled, believing that you had left this at her door step to read. she looked back down at the book before stuffing it in her cardigan and making her way inside

a couple hours had passed and you decided to go back to the tree where you had thrown your notebook down, you searched around it and even did a lap of the entire park and the perfect notebook was nowhere to be seen. you didn't mean to leave it, and if you were being honest this time you loved that you still had something that matched with Lizzie

but it was gone now, and you had no idea where it was
