you had spent the last couple of weeks sneaking around with Lizzie, ducking behind trash cans, hiding behind trees and only hanging out when Robbie was out of town or at rehearsals

it was exciting as you had never done something like this before, but you still felt a tinge of hurt in your heart whenever lizzie would pull you to hide behind a car whenever she saw a mutual friend she had with Robbie or someone with a camera, but you continued to set up hangouts every chance you got because you were absolutely infatuated with her.

it was at one of these hangouts that something had gone wrong, you were sitting on her couch sipping on expensive champagne listening to her rant about an argument she had with her older sisters. you nodded and added to the conversation when needed but that nice evening was ruined by the turning of a handle. Lizzie quickly perked up, hearing the familiar sound of her husband taking his shoes off after a trip. she quickly shushed you and told you to go into one of the spare rooms, so you did as she said.

she seemed scared and panicked by the unexpected arrival of Robbie but you didn't have any time to ask questions. you pressed your ear against the door, trying to make out the conversations between them.

"you're all dolled up, who are you getting pretty for?" robbie asked, in a tired voice

"i don't know, just got bored i guess" lizzie answered, her voice quiet to the point where you could barely hear her

"who's champagne glass is that?" robbie questions again,

shit

"who have you had over?"

"no one! it's for you, figured you would want something to drink after working" lizzie lied

"you know i don't drink that crap" you heard Robbie brush the glass off the coffee table, it hitting the floor hard, "i'm going to have a shower, and i better have a beer ready not that prissy shit" you heard him get up and leave, probably going up the stairs

before you knew it the door swung open and you saw Lizzie standing there, still frazzled from the whole situation. she quickly grabbed your wrist and pulled you towards the front door, causing you to almost trip on Robbies shoes that were carelessly thrown.

"you have to go, he won't be long" lizzie opened the door, nodding towards it

"but liz-" you tried to talk but were lightly shoved out

"i'm sorry, i just don't think this'll work" she said sadly as she looked down

"lizzie wait!" you whisper yelled but the door slammed in your face, leaving you stunned. everything had happened too fast, you went from friends to strangers in the span of 10 minutes, and you still didn't know why lizzie was so secretive when it came to your friendship. it just didn't make any sense, but right now you just wanted to go home
