A Different Island

Chapter 7: Training

Anyways, you all might be wondering on what it was like while living in Kai's pack. Even the though it was short lived, I learned quite a bit about this tribe as well as the other two humans that we were living with. And I would like to apologize that I never mentioned their names, but we did find each other's out, the boy's name was Tommy, and the girl's was Sophie.

Oh and I never mentioned where Larry was last night, and that's because I asked the alpha and they cut him up for food. Nah, I'm kidding, they actually kept him locked up in another cave for a while but they said they would try and find a use for him other than food.

I also would like to answer one more thing that some of you would want to know before I go on with the story. Is this entire island just forest and small bodies of water, or are there other kinds of biomes such as a tropical or arctic biome within this massive island?

And I would like to apologize before continuing, but there are actually a few different biomes added on to this large piece of land making it not just forest.

I was only told about these different biomes amidst from the rest of the things that happened in the part of the story which I am about to share right now.

The next morning, I was awoken to Hana trying to tickle my chest and nose. "It seems like she likes you." Said Shelly. 

"Yeah, because you're so interesting and squishy and I just love it!" Said Hana as she laid her hand down on top of my chest as if it were a pillow. "You do realize that there are two other humans in this same tent." I said, trying my best to get her off me.

"Alright Hana, that's enough now. Evan's not fully awake yet and he'll need the energy for later. And you also have to get up for school." Said Reshmina as she walked in. "Aww, alright, I'll let him go see you later mom." Said Hana as she walked out of the tent.

"Come on Evan, we have to get you and the others prepared before you go out." Said Reshmina. She then helped me stand up and led me out of the hut and we began walking down the small hill.

When we reached solid ground, we walked along a trail through the tribe grounds where several huts were positioned along the path which is where I presumed the main part of this Gray Nahele village was. I then snapped myself back to reality where I focused back on one of my other questions. "What do you mean by "getting me prepared" exactly?" I asked.

"It's quite simple, we have to train you for a little bit before we allow you to go along with the job you've been assigned." Said Reshmina. "What job have I been assigned?" I asked. "You and the other boy have been declared hunters for the time being." Said Reshmina.

"What does that mean exactly?" I asked. I mean, I already knew what it meant by the job of a hunter but I wanted to make clear of any details that I didn't know of. "Well, if you don't know, we send out some of our own into the various biomes of this land to catch and use to feed our tribe." Explained Reshmina.

Reshmina actually caught me off guard at the mention of "the various biomes." Did that mean there wasn't just forest in this world? But before I could ask any more, we came down to one of the larger huts that we turned towards and went into.

Inside the hut, we were greeted by another gray creature with orange marks under his eyes. "Hello Yon, it is indeed nice to see you, and this boy we found last night has come here for the training required for his first mission tomorrow." Said Reshmina.!

"So I see you've been assigned a hunter, Even though he's young, I see he's got potential." Said Yon. "Anyways boy, before we begin you're real training, let's see what you already know about archery." Said Yon, who I could only assume was a teacher of sorts as he handed me a bow and 4 arrows. As for my skills on archery, I would say that I am kind of average. I've done archery before in school for a while but I didn't do that great in terms of hitting the target. I mean the best I ever remember doing is hitting kind of the edges of blue and red, I mean most of my shots didn't even hit black, so I was a bit nervous .
