Over the next year, everything seemed like it just wasn't normal despite how everything seemed fine with me living in a family with two good parents and 3 siblings who could get rather annoying even though we are generally friends and mostly on good terms. But outside of home, everyone treated me like an alien at school and nobody even acted like I was there.
However, the strangest part was that every few weeks, I had been getting letters from someone I didn't know. Frankly, my parents only let me read a couple letters when they first started coming in. But after weeks of this, they thought it was just some sort of pranksters who were just trying to get attention.
Eventually, the letters stopped and nothing happened for a while. And before any of us knew it, an entire year had passed when all of this first went down.
But when it came to when I finally figured it out, it was after I met a girl who was far from who, or even what she said she was. And from there, everything just flooded back to me and I realized I was apart of something much bigger than anyone could ever imagine.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It all started on a day when I was out at a park on a rather calm and peaceful Saturday morning with nothing really going on besides me just wanting to go out and relax while keeping to myself.
However, things would take a turn when I noticed a young girl around 11 or 12 years with wavy brown hair and blue eyes wearing a crystal necklace walking her golden retriever coming over to me.
"Hi." She said. I quickly stood up and said hi back to her. "So, uh, what are you doing out here today?" I asked. "Oh, nothing much, we moved here recently and I was just taking Larry out here for a walk." She said. Everything seemed normal until the girl said the dog's name was Larry and it was then something unfamiliar just suddenly popped up in my mind as if the name was familiar. "Are you alright? Is something bothering you?" Asked the girl.
"Oh no, nothing." I lied, there was something familiar, but it just sounded like if I revealed it to the girl that she would laugh at me. "My name's Evan, what's yours?" "Oh, well. My name's Shelly." She said as she formed a small smile on her face. Then the feeling came over me again as I felt like I heard the name before but in a kind of strange context.
It was then we were greeted by a group familiar, yet unpleasant voices. "What do we have here? New girl making quiet, nervous Evan of all people a boyfriend? Most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my life." Said the leader as his 3 cronies chortled behind him. It was none other than the local school gang lead by Owen Davenger. I just scoffed and rolled my eyes at him, but Shelly wouldn't accept it. Her dog even growled at the boys.
"Oh, a dumb dog. How scary." Said one of Owen's cronies. "Oooo, I'm terrified." Said another. "Hey new girl, by the way, nice necklace you got there." Said the third sarcastically. "Hey, I got this from my mother who's presence you will cower in!" Shouted Shelly. "Who?" Asked Owen. "My mo-"
"Cares." He said.
That was the last straw, and while the boys were laughing themselves to death, I came over and slapped Owen across the face backhanded. He and his cronies growled at me. "We'll be back Evie." Said Owen as he and his cronies slinked away. I turned back towards Shelly who thanked me for standing up to them for her from which in return I said she was welcome, and I thought that from there we'd set up a way to contact one another in the future, but Shelly actually had something different in mind.
"So......, do you know when we're going to meet up again when you have the chance?" I asked. "Well, I actually have something else that's really important to tell you." She said. I was caught off guard by her sudden change in tone. "Ok, what is it?" I asked nervously, thinking I was about to be told something that was meant to be kept secret. "Well, before I tell you, I'd say we should do it in a more, private area where its safer to show you, rather than tell you." Explained Shelly. I was hesitant about following her, but I did eventually reluctantly follow her and her dog into the neighboring forest.
I asked her where specifically we were going and she answered with that we were going to her mother's place which was somewhere near according to her. We must've been walking for at least a half hour before I suggested turning around and finding another way to her mother's place, but Shelly was persistent that this was the quickest way. But soon enough, we had arrived at a small clearing deep within the woods and I was now really uncomfortable. "Alright Evan, we're here now." Said Shelly as her dog sat down beside her. "What are we doing out here? I don't see a house of any kind around here!" I said. Finally, Shelly told me her secret, and it was more unbelievable than I ever could've imagined.
"Evan, I know who you are. Because I've met you and this was not the first time we ever crossed paths in our lives, and you've become more important than you probably think you ever will be." She said with her tone changing slightly. I was confused and I didn't even know how to interpret any of what Shelly was saying at first. I didn't ever remember this girl before, but there had to be some sort of explanation with me possibly being a part of an important prophecy as I had some sort of familiar feeling about someone with the name.
"Well, what do you mean?" I asked. Shelly then grabbed the necklace and put the crystal up to me but didn't take it off. "You've been to my home and met Larry and I, and it wasn't just you, it was you and two others, and one of them is actually still around in our world, but that's alright, because we mainly need you. And our first goal was to get you back and trying to send letters to you just wasn't making the cut, maybe because it was too obvious." She said as the dog looked back up at me. Now I was really confused, I did remember my lack of memory following before I woke in a facility where I remembered that I wasn't alone as I was with an older boy before we were separated and wee never saw each other again. I now had a sneaky suspicion that he had something to do with this.
"Anyways, there are people that have wiped your abilities away and they're also slowly exploring us and threatening us, and it's much more than environmental disturbance. It's been happening for over a year, but you can help us, because you are special, more than you could imagine."
It was there after that Shelly's crystal necklace began glowing and it began unleashing some sort of tentacles into my mouth before it did the same with my eyes. I didn't feel any pain, but I kept trying to pull the tentacles off of me to no avail. But while doing so, I felt a strange pressure in my head before I realized what was going on. All my memories of my time on Kipoiwa came flooding back to me. And eventually, the tentacles detached back into the necklace and I looked around to find myself in a forest that was different from the one we were just in, and I realized that I was back on the same island I had gotten off of a year ago.
And when I looked back at Shelly, I saw she was in the middle of a undergoing transformation back into her hybrid anthro self. However, she also held up a small shard of a crystal like rock that reflected like a mirror. In my reflection I saw I also had some sort of red star shaped marking on my forehead. "What's it for?" I asked. "It's so that you can switch between forms." Said Shelly as she finished her transformation.
I was confused by what she was saying despite I should've admitted that some things would always be strange and unexplainable on Kipoiwa. "How it works is that you have to kneel down then put your finger in the middle of the star itself. Then you'll see." Shelly said. I saw a lake nearby and walked over to it before I went down on my knees and put my three middle fingers in the middle of the star. What happened next and the realization of it all lasted only about a single minute.
For a few brief seconds, I felt my body changing though a painless process. And when it was over, I looked down and saw I had become something else, or rather a creature resembling Shelly. My eyes were black with red slits along with fur pattern with mostly different colors along with the several other features making me a hybrid creature. I examined myself in amazement before Shelly walked over. "I think I'm gonna have to start calling you my twin, Evan." She chuckled. I honestly go against her.
It was then I realized I had been brought here and transformed for a reason, and I was pretty keen on making that answer clear.
"Alright Shelly. Why have I been brought back here?"
