"Who's Sandy?", I ask Soda nonchalantly, when we sit back down in the waiting area. Soda exhales deeply, before smiling sadly. "Well, this story's sure gonna need cake, so I'll be right back.", Soda says, before getting up, and buying me another piece of cake. When he returned, he hands me the cake and an iced raspberry tea. "Thanks,", I say, "Now, story time.". Soda takes a deep breath, before talking. He tells me how Sandy, a middle class Soc, had been the love of his life since they were fifteen. He tells me how they met, and how quickly they fell for each other. He tells me that they were together for a whole year, and that it was the best year of his life. Then, he tells me how suddenly, about a month ago, Sandy was gone. He says that Sandy's parents never liked Soda, and the way he lives. He tells me that Sandy's parents thought she should be with the best of the best. "You know,", Soda says, "I thought she was the one. Zara, she was the one. That is, until I got the letter I sent her last week, sent back unopened. Now, I'm not so sure.". I look at the tears that are welled in Soda's eyes, and I take his had in mine, squeezing it. Soda looks at me with a sad smile. "I know we just met, but it feels like I've known you forever. I enjoyed talkin' to ya, Zara-Mae.", Soda says, standing up. "Are you leaving?", I ask. Soda nods. "See ya tomorrow, Zara.". I stand up myself. "See you tomorrow, Sodapop.", I say, as Soda walks away. I smile to myself, feeling luckier than ever.

The next few days went by in a blur. Everyday, Soda came back, and we talked about everything, and nothing at all. He told me about how his parents died, how he used to go to the horse stables all the time, until his favorite horse, Mickey Mouse got sold. He told me about his brothers and the gang. Then, two weeks later, spring break was over, and Ponyboy got discharged. After that, I didn't see Sodapop again. Everyday, for two weeks, I'd stop at the DX, but Soda was never there. After a while, I gave up. It was as if Soda disappeared after the face of the Earth. I tried to stop thinking about Soda, and finally, after about a month, I was finally able to think about anything but him. It hurts, but you know what they say, some things are just too good to be true...
