Later, after dessert was all cleaned up, everyone went their separate ways. My parents went inside, Pony and Cherry started a fire in the fire pit, and Darry went home, after telling Soda and Pony, "Don't stay too late.". Soda and I decide to take a walk around the block. We were on our third loop when Soda stopped. "What?", I ask, confused. Soda hesitates for a moment, before grabbing my hand. "Let's go to the park.", he says, dragging me across the street. Once we're across the street, he breaks into a sprint, letting go of my hand along the way. he stops running once he reaches the merry-go-round. He waits until I also reach it, before taking my hand again, and laying down, dragging me down next to him. I expected him to let go of my hand once he was settled, but he didn't. Instead, he holds on, as we look at the stars. We lay there wordlessly for a while, as the sky darkens to a black, all the oranges, and the pinks, and the yellows, and the purples disappearing from the horizon. Then, suddenly, Soda turns on his side, facing me. "You're not like any other Soc I've ever met, Zara-Mae.", Soda murmurs, his eyes trailing my face, landing on my eyes. I laugh softly. "I'm sure not perfect, Soda.", I reply. Soda moves closer, a smirk playing on his lips. "You're perfect enough to me, Zara...". Before  I even get the chance to reply, Soda closes the space between us, taking my breath away. My heartbeat speeds up, as Soda's soft kiss gradually gets deeper. Soda pulls away, looking confused. "Are you okay?", he says against my lips. "Mhm.", I mumble, before kissing him again. At some point, we separate, a huge smile on both of our faces. We get up wordlessly, and walk back to my house hand in hand. When we get back to my house, Pony is on the front steps, waiting for Soda. Pony gets up, and before he reaches us, Soda leans towards me. "Good night, Zara-Mae.", he whispers in my ear, lingering for a moment, before straightening out again. Too dazed to think, I nod. Pony walks past me, with a mumbled good night, before walking off with Soda. I watch as they walk off, smiling when Soda glances back. Once they disappear from my view, I walk inside, in a trance-like state. When I get up to my room, I curl up on my bed, falling asleep with a huge smile on my face.
