Without thinking, I rush over to Sandy, And hug her tightly, before she's fully standing. She giggles, hugging me back, even though I was squeezing her harder than should be possible. That was the thing about us. We never fought, and we never complained. Even though she is a greaser and I am a Soc, we couldn't be a better pair. "Where have you been?", I ask, once I finally let go of her. She bites her lip, looking at the ground. "Uh... well... technically I was supposed to be in Orlando, but... uh...", she says, trailing off. Concerned, I force Sandy to look at me. "Sandy, what is it?", I demand softly. Suddenly, Sandy bursts into tears. "I  ran away, Zara-Mae!! The second my parents told me we were leaving I ran!! I ran, but it took me this long to return to you. You know, I haven't even gone to see Soda yet.", she exclaims wetly, before sobbing gut-wrenching sobs. It takes a moment, but suddenly the realization clicks, causing my eyes to widen. "S-Soda? As in Sodapop Curtis?", I ask, grimacing. Sandy furrows her eyebrows, confused. "Yeah, why?", she asks, wiping away her tears. I don't know how I could forget. Sandy, the Sandy, my best friend Sandy, was the same Sandy that Sodapop was so beaten up over in the hospital on the last day that I saw him. Sandy never really talked about Sodapop when they were together, and I never met him. Now though, it finally clicked. I have been in love with Sandy's only love, her first and last love. I can't tell her though. It will hurt her horribly, it will tear her apart. That said, I can't lie to her. I never have. I have to tell her the truth, even if it tears us apart. I. Have. To.
