"Well, Sandy... There's something I should probably tell you...", I say, once I finally have enough courage to speak.  Sandy looks at me, confused. "Okay...?", she says, in a questioning voice. I bite my lip, scared. Inhaling, I say, "Sandy, I... I'm in love with Sodapop Curtis, and I... I think he might be in love with me. We kissed, and I am sorry to say... I don't regret it. At all.", I say, using all of the courage that I had gathered up. A twisted expression takes over Sandy's face, and tears begin to fall from her eyes again. Then, before I have time to react, Sandy does the unexpected. She slaps me across the face. "How. Could. You? You bitch! Why would you do this to me?", she screams, her face blurry in my now tear filled eyes. My blurred vision turns red with anger. "How could I? Really? First of all, how in the hell was I supposed to know that Sodapop Curtis was your boyfriend, huh? Because you never talked about him, and until Ponyboy had to go to the hospital, I had never even met him!", I screamed back, "And second of all, I didn't do anything to you! You left, or at least Soda though you left, and because you never went to see him, he thought you didn't love him anymore! I was there for him though, I helped him through it, Sandy! I did! And I helped him through the whole situation with Pony! Not you, ME!". For a moment, Sandy didn't have anything to say. She just looked at me, with a blank expression. "I-I...", she starts, before crumbling to the ground, weeping loudly. I step back, totally bewildered. Then, finally, I collect myself. "Sandy, what is happening to you? You aren't the same person that you were before you left.", I say, falling to the floor in front of Sandy. Sandy looks at me, then puts her face in her hands. "I... I have been diagnosed with severe depression, anxiety, and anger issues. That's why we were leaving. My... My parents wanted to take me to a mental hospital! They think that I am mental!", she bursts, her eyes wild with hurt. I bite my lip again, and hug her. "Sandy...", I say, "I love you, you know that, right?". "Yes.", Sandy murmurs. I nod. "Good. Then know, that what I am about to say is only because I have your best interests at heart. I think, that getting help would be a good thing. I think you should call your parents, and tell them where you are. I think you should tell them that you are ready to get help. Please.". Sandy pulls out of the hug, and looks at me for a moment. Then she nods. "Okay. Okay, I will.", she says, a slight smile playing on her tear stained face. I smile back, and get up to grab the house phone. "Wait.", Sandy says, grabbing my arm. I turn around, and look down at Sandy with a prompting expression. "Good luck with Soda.", she says softly.
