Sandy and I waited for her parents on my front porch, Sandy asleep on my shoulder. When her parents arrive, I shake Sandy awake, and hug her. "I love you, Sandy, forever. When you're better, come visit, please.". Sandy lets go, and stands up. "Miss you already.", she murmurs wetly, smiling. I smile back, and wait until she gets into her parents car. "Miss you too.", I whisper, as her parents drive off.

I end up calling in to work, explaining everything hastily to Missy, who lets me off without any complaint. It could be because I never miss a day of work, or because Missy loves me, but either way, I am grateful. After I get off of the phone with Missy, I drive to the DX, to see Soda. When I get there, Soda's nowhere in sight. My head falls, and I bite my lip to hold back the frown that begans to creep onto my face. That's when I hear Soda's voice from the garage. My face immediately lights up. I exit the convenience store part of the DX, and go around the back to the garage. Steve notices me immediately, but Soda's completely oblivious to my arrival. I wink at Steve, and hold my index finger to my lips, shushing him when he begins to chuckle. "Hey, Soda!", I say with over exaggerated excitement, causing him to jump. I giggle, biting my lip. Soda looks up, anger and embarrassment on his face, until his eyes meet mine. When our eyes meet, all past emotions gone, and replaced with happiness. He quickly wipes his the grease off of his hands and onto his jeans, before rushing over and gathering me in a hug. I hug him back, and Steve groans. Soda sighs, and pulls out of the hug, taking my hand immediately after. "Oh shut up Steve. You're just angry cause ain't nobody wanna be with a crooked teethed, metal mouth.", Soda teases. Steve teases back, and says, "It's not my fault that I didn't get the good looks. I got more smarts than you, Dropout.". Soda laughs, rolling his eyes. I laugh at their ridiculousness, before letting go of Soda's hand, and looking up at him seriously. The amusement on Soda's face vanishes, and he becomes concerned. "What?", he asks nervously. I giggle, and look down, hiding my own amusement. I take his hand again to sooth him. "Nothing bad, silly. There's just something I need to talk to you about.", I say, before looking at Steve pointedly. He takes the hint, and disappears. When I am sure that Steve is gone, I lead Soda over to where there are a few tires stack high enough to sit on. I sit down, leaving Soda standing. "So...", I say, looking at the ground, "Sandy... Sandy is my best friend. She came to visit me. She told me why she was gone, and told me she didn't want to leave. She... has some issues, but she finally agreed to get help.". I look up at Soda to see his reaction. His face is covered with pain and sadness. I wince, and look down again, before continuing. "My question is... if... if Sandy comes back, would you run to her again? Do you love her still? Because she loves you still, and she told me good luck with you. I want to be with you, but... if you love her still, then...". I look back up at Soda, who still looks pained. He hesitates, before saying, "I... I don't know...". I stand up immediately, as the tears begin to roll down my face. I nod, not able to look at Soda. "Okay... Okay, that's okay.", I answer wetly, before running out of the garage. Soda calls after me, but I ignore him. When I get to my car, I start it immediately, driving away, as my body shakes with sobs.
