When we enter the stables, there is an older man, who looks to be in his mid 50's. Soda greets him cheerfully. "Howdy, Mr. Finley.", he says, waving. Mr. Finley smiles feebly. "Well, look who it is. Long time no see, Curtis.", he says, his eyes fitting to me. Mr. Finley smirks, causing me to blush in embarrassment. "Now, who's this fine young lady?", he says, whistling teasingly. Soda turns red as well. "She's... She's my girlfriend, Zara-Mae Valance.". Mr. Finley smiles wryly, and says, "Ahhhhh. I mean, you can't blame her. You prolly knocked the wind out of her with your devilish charm.". Soda shakes his head, biting back a smile. "Is it all right if I take Zara-Mae on a little ride?", Soda asks. Mr. Finley pretends to ponder this. "Oh, all right. ", he says, smiling, "Alaska here is free. She sure is a beaute, ain't she?". He points to a white mare, with gray and black spots on her ears, snout, and rear end, with a long silvery tail and mane. "Wow...", I murmur. Soda chuckles. "You ain't woofin', sir.", he says, taking my hand. Mr. Finley smiles, before proceeding to saddle up Alaska. Once she's all set, Mr. Finley takes her lead in his hand, and slowly leads Alaska towards us. Mr. Finley gestures for me to pet Alaska, so I do, reaching out slowly. Her soft mane runs through my fingers, and I smile. "You're so pretty.", I murmur, completely mesmerized. Soda beams, and pets Alaska as well. "Welp, I'll leave ya'll to it. I sure hope you come by again, Curtis.", Mr. Finley says, handing Soda Alaska's lead, before walking off. "I will, sir!", Soda calls after him. Once Mr. Finley is gone, Soda leads Alaska out of the stable, me trailing closely behind. When we get to the main trail, Soda stops. "You ready?", he asks. I nod, biting my lip. Before I can even second guess my decision, Soda is lifting me up. I let out a squeal, not stopping until I am stably sitting on top of Alaska. Soda swings his leg over Alaska with ease, pulling himself into a sitting position behind me. He wraps his arms around me, grabbing a hold of the reins. "And we're off...", Soda says in a dreamy voice, as we take off on the trail.

A few hours later, Soda and I are making our way back to my house. When we finally get there, I assume that Soda's just gonna drop me off and leave, but what he actually does surprises me. "Do you mind if I come in for a moment?", he asks me in a sly manner. I raise an eyebrow at him. "Why...?", I ask, my voice laced with suspicion. Soda grins widely. "Because, I gotta let your mom know where I'm whisking you off to next.". I giggle, and take Soda's hand. "Okay. Do I need to change my clothes or anything?", I ask, looking up at Soda. Soda skids to a halt, and frowns at me. "What?", I ask, confused as to what I did. "Why would you need to change?", he says, "You're beautiful just like that.". I blush, and kiss Soda on the cheek, before dragging him into my house. "Hey, mom!!", I call, once we enter the foyer. My mom comes rushing in from around the corner. "Yes hon- Oh, hi Soda! Did ya'll have fun?", she says, giving Soda her signature grin, causing me to beam. Soda smiles back. "Yes, Mrs. Valance. Thank you for allowing me to take your daughter out.", he says, with so much respect that my mom gives me an approving glance. I bite my lip, turning red with slight embarrassment. "Of course, Sodapop. I would trust you with the world. You are a very wonderful young man.", my mom says, grinning once more. Soda is still smiling, and a slight glimmer reaches his eyes. "I was wondering if you wouldn't mind me taking Zara out for the night. I promise I'll return her.", Soda says, the last sentence a slight tease. My mom nods, and says warmly, "I don't mind one bit. You two have fun.". Soda smiles warmly. "Thank you, ma'am. Have a good night.". Then, with one final departing wave, Soda and I are out the door, off on another trip that I, once again, have absolutely no clue where to. But I don't care. I'd trust Soda with the world too. I can't quite place why, but I think that I might love him.
