"Pony...", I start, before my voice hitches in my throat. I am sure that there are tears welling up in my eyes. Pony's eyes widen, and he stands up quickly. "Oh, Zara-Mae, don't cry!", he exclaims, slapping a hand over his mouth. I laugh at his horrified expression, the tears falling. "Pony, don't worry! I'm not upset. I'm just surprised that you trusted me enough with... with your story...", I say, the last part coming out as a murmur. Pony smiles, relieved, as everyone else laughs at this exchange. "Thank you, Ponyboy.", I say softly, hugging Pony. Pony hugs me back, and says, "You're welcome, Zara.". Once we pull away, I start to gather all of my stuff, when Soda grabs what I was going to grab. Our hands touch, sending a feeling of electricity through my veins. I look up, meeting eyes with a just as surprised Soda. "S-Sorry... Is it okay if I help?", Soda murmurs, looking into my eyes. I realize that I was sort of dazed, and pull my hand out from under Soda's, snapping out of it. I stand up a little too quickly, and stumble. Once I am balanced, I stammer, "Y-yeah, t-that's fine, Soda. T-thank you...". Soda smiles, and continues picking up the rest of my presents. I walk towards the house, Soda trailing behind me. We walk wordlessly up to my room. When we enter my room, I flip on the switch, and dump everything onto my bed, so that I can sort them all out. I begin to sort, when I realize that Soda is still in my doorway. I turn around, smirking.  "What?", I ask. Soda, who had a faraway look in his eyes, snaps to, looking at me. "Sorry... where'd ya want these?", Soda says, with a sheepish expression. I giggle. "It's fine.", I say, "Just put them on my bed, please.". Soda nods, walking over to my bed, and setting the rest of the stuff on my bed. I continue sorting, as Soda plops down in my desk chair. Once I am done putting most of the stuff away, the only things left are my new car keys, my charm bracelet from Soda, and the book from Pony. I put the bracelet on my wrist, the keys on my bedside table, and the book on my desk, for later. Soda stands up, as I set the book down, and when I turn around, I come face to face with Soda, as I almost fall. He catches me, for the second time tonight, smiling softly. "Hi...", he murmurs, his eyes smoldering. "Hi...", I whisper, as my voice catches in my throat. Soda moves closer, and just as he's about to make a move, my mom calls for us from the bottom of the stairs. We jump away from each other, both our faces flushing. "Zara, Soda, time for dessert!!", she calls. I flip the light switch out, and run out of my room, Soda following behind, closing my door on the way. "Coming mom!", I say, bounding down the stairs. Soda and I walk into the kitchen, panting. "You two look like you just ran a marathon.", says my mom, who was holding a large chocolate-mint swirl cake in her hands. 'My heart did.', I think to myself, and when I look at Soda, I can tell he's thinking the same thing. I bite my lip, as I turn to grab the cheesecake off the counter. "Nope, just excited for dessert, that's all!", I say, my face still flushed, as I rush out the back door, past my mom. My mom comes out next, with Soda trailing behind her, a tray of apple pie tarts in his hands. I notice that his face is still flushed as well, and I soften, not as embarrassed as before. My dad lights the candles on the cake, and Cherry and I get ready to blow them out, as everyone sings the song to us. When they're done, I do something I haven't done in a while; I make a wish. I close my eyes and think, 'I wish that Sodapop Patrick Curtis kisses me, before tonight ends, before he goes back to his side of town, leaving me alone on mine. I wish...' . Then, I blow, hoping more than ever, that my wish comes true.
