After school, I went to the park, where Pony said Soda would be. He told me that Soda always took Pony's first day of school off, so that he and Pony could play football together. I dropped Pony off at his house before heading to the park. When I get to the park, Soda is sitting on top of the monkey bar arch. Just the mere sight of him causes my heart to soar. I walk quickly towards Soda, and climb up the monkey bar arch, sitting quietly next to Soda. "I am ready to hear you out, Soda.", I say quietly, looking down. I can practically hear the smile in Soda's voice as he says, "Finally.". I look up at him, and the second I see his smile, I feel my lips stretch into a wide smile. "Zara-Mae, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. I... I really care about you, and seeing you hurt tore me apart.", Soda says, his voice suddenly serious. "But... have you decided. Or do you still not know?", I ask, looking down again. Soda hitches his thumb under my chin, forcing me to look at him. "I've always known, Zara. It just took me a while to figure that out.", he says, his face only a few inches away from mine. My eyes widen as I begin to fathom what he meant. I open my mouth to say something, but before I can even get a word out, Soda's lips press against mine, gingerly at first. When I begin to kiss back, the kiss gets more feverish, as he wraps an arm around my waist, and pulls my closer, deepening the kiss. Before he can get too far, I push out of his arms, and shush him the minute he begins to protest. "What happens now?", I question. Soda smirks, and says, "Well I didn't think I had to ask, but...". Then, he jumps off of the arch, dragging me down with him, and catching me in his arms. "Zara-Mae Valance, do ya wanna go steady with me?", he says dramatically. I smile, and with the same dramatic tone, I say, "Well of course, Sodapop Patrick Curtis.". Soda sets my down, and wraps his arms around me, before kissing me once more.

[IDK if the time of death is accurate!!! I had to look it up]

That night, I went to Soda's house. Pony made everyone in the gang dinner, and Darry made his special chocolate cake. After dinner, Soda and I hung out in his room, while Pony sat outside reading a book, and Darry sat with the rest of the gang in the living room. Every once in a while, I'd hear hoots and hollers, but I tried my hardest to ignore it, as Soda and I talked about anything and everything. "So Soda, tell me about your parents. I know everything about your brothers and the rest of the gang, but nothing about your parents.", I say, after a few hours of empty conversation. "Well, what'dya wanna know?", he answers with ease. I ponder that for a moment. "Anything you're ready to tell me.", I reply carefully. Soda smiles, and takes my hand in his. He inhales deeply, giving me a small smile. "Well, my parents died about eight or nine months before I met you. They were on their way home, when... a train hit their car. My mom was an amazing woman. She was strict and firm like Darry, but sweet and bubbly like me. Pony reminds me the most of her though. Smart, and imaginative. He says I'm most like her, but I don't know about that. Darry looks most like our dad, but he's nothing like him. Dad was one wise cracker, always making a joke outta somethin'. They were... well, Zar, no matter how poor we were, they made it easy to forget.", Soda says, and by the time he finishes, there are tears in both of our eyes. "Oh, Soda!", I exclaim, nestling my head into Soda's chest, and hugging him tightly. He hugs me back, resting his head on mine, as his tears soak my hair, and mine soak his shirt. I don't know how long we lay like that, but the last thing I do remember, is Soda whispering in my ear: "Goodnight..."
