CHAPTER 16 - THE ANIMUS TUNNEL

GLORY'S POV

Glory walked over with Sunny, glaring at Deathbringer furiously. "Okay. Start talking!" She put her hands on her hips. "Ten seconds. Ten seconds." Deathbringer's expression was almost priceless. Almost.

"What?" he protested, widening his eyes innocently. Too innocently for Glory's liking. "What did I do?"

He acts innocent, but I can't fall for it, Glory reminded herself inwardly with a soft sigh. Three moons, how would I ever be able to deal with him if - WHAT AM I THINKING?!

"Ask Starflight to tell you all about it," Peril sighed, rolling her eerie blue eyes. Glory had the feeling she didn't know much either about what was happening. "Apparently the NightWings - "

"What are NightWings?" Glory snapped in disbelief. Nothing seemed to make sense anymore, and Deathbringer, Starflight and Peril were the most confusing people ever at the moment. And seemed to have way to many secrets. "This is ridiculous!"

"Can I explain?" A black haired woman stepped over. She had warm smile of her face and blue eyes. A diamond necklace hung around her neck. Her eyes flicked over them all, briefly shooting towards Peril before resting on Glory at last. "Hello Glory. Nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you." Her expression was kind and she had a friendly grin, but Glory was still cautious.

How does she know my name? Is she a spy? Scarlet's spy? I don't know her. Is she a threat?

"Who are you?" Glory stiffened, glaring at her defiantly. "Are you allied with Scarlet?" She knew that sounded very unfriendly, but she had to know. And right now everything seemed to be dangerous, so Glory was always on her guard.

"If I had to make a guess," Peril interrupted quickly, frowning slightly as she cocked her head, studying the woman as if she was an exhibit in a museum, "I would say that it's Greatness."

"Greatness? Deathbringer's sister?" Glory whirled towards Deathbringer, narrowing her eyes. "Why is your sister coming, anyway?" Argh. I forgot Starflight told him to bring her. But still. She's never even met Fatespeaker! Why should she come?

"We have a confession," Starflight said quietly. He seemed to tremble, and Glory blinked. "This...it's hard to say it. I - " He took a deep breath, then fell silent. "Greatness - " he began, the broke off, shrugging helplessly, not finishing what he was trying to say.

Greatness blinked, blue eyes wide and innocent. Just like Deathbringer's. "What in three moons are you talking about?" She whirled towards Glory, a hopeful expression on her face. "I trust you. You're Glory RainWing, right? My brother's girlfriend, future wife?"

Glory glared at Deathbringer, annoyed. Did he say I was his girlfriend?! If he did, I'll kill him! "Yes to the first part, no to the second," she replied sharply. "I am not your brother's girlfriend." Even though I might want to be deep inside. Ack, what am I even THINKING?

"No matter how much you'd like it be," Deathbringer added cheekily, voicing her exact thoughts. Glory made a quick mental note to murder him later.

"Calm down everyone!" Kinkajou protested. She flicked back her rainbow hair with a sigh. "Okay, what's an animus tunnel, who are the NightWings and WHERE ARE WE GOING?!" For once Kinkajou sounded frustrated, which was rare. Unless someone made her mad, Kinkajou was always happy and usually patient. Usually.

Glory groaned. "That's what I want to know." I can't believe I'm agreeing with Kinkajou.

"The NightWings were one of the seven tribes of Pyrrhia two hundred years ago," Starflight said in a rush. "But then a real dragon called Darkstalker killed everyone and the people left joined together and made this settlement and now everyone lives here and no longer in tribes but then a descendant of the NightWing throne Queen Battlewinner is trying to split up tribes again then seize control and Oasis is dead so Burn, Blister and Blaze are fighting over the throne and there are five dragonets of destiny for each tribe except the IceWings who are too far north and the SkyWings because Scarlet is currently allied with them and Clay, Tsunami, Glory, Sunny and I are of five of the tribes and part of a plot to make the NightWings take over so they're going to attack and we're all going to war and we'll all die and the replacements are Fatespeaker and the others and it's a disaster."
