PERIL'S POV

Peril had escaped from the Night Kingdom more than twenty four hours ago.

She was waiting. She knew the war would start any minute. That was why she was preparing.

She'd broken into Scarlet's house again and filled her backpack with every single important file she could find, ignoring how heavy it was. She'd taken bottles of water from the kitchen and bread and cheese and some small pieces of fruit and peanut butter. Anything she could fit into the backpack.

She'd stuffed a fire blanket in the backpack too, weirdly covering the files with the blanket. Her phone. Pencils and paper. A few pieces of clothes. It was a miracle it had all fitted into her school bag.

The sword still sat in the sheath around her waist. The crossbow and arrows were tied to her backpack. She was ready to leave. She didn't know where she was going. Maybe the Claws of Clouds Mountains.

There had been maps in Scarlet's office. The complete map of Pyrrhia. All the territories.

The Mud Kingdom. That's Clay's. Will he like it? I don't think I would. It sounds marshy and weird and uncomfortable.

Kingdom of the Sea. Tsunami's. Full of water. I don't like water.

The Kingdom of Sand. That's a warm place. Unusual. Full of death and rival queens.

The Night Kingdom, aka the creepy volcano. The place where Deathbringer and Starflight and Fatespeaker come from.

The Ice Kingdom. It's cold there. I would really hate it there. I don't like the cold.

The Rainforest. That's where Kinkajou and Glory should be going to soon. With their tribe. Queen Glory of the RainWings.

And then her own kingdom. The place where she wanted to go to. The place she wanted to explore. The place she wanted to discover. The Sky Kingdom. Maybe Sky will be there. Won't that be ironic? But I have to find him. This has to happen. I can't fuss over the others anymore.

Her heart wrenched, but she pushed the thoughts away. I can't fuss about Clay now. Fury flashed through her. When I left I didn't see him follow me! Why? Does no-one care? He let me go. He abandoned me.

I hate him......

Peril jumped. There were sounds of screams outside. She glanced out the window. Sword clashing, silver and danger. People were attacking each other. She caught sight of more than one NightWing too.

She wondered what had happened to the others after she'd left. No-one had tried to contact her. Yet. Not even Sunny. Honestly, Peril didn't really care either. If they don't care I don't care about them. I hate them! They did this. Them and stupid Deathbringer. Glory's an idiot for loving him. I hope their dumb ship sinks.

Traitors...

She hardly even cared about Clay anymore. One thing Peril had learnt recently was that she couldn't trust anyone. Why should she? Traitors, traitors, traitors!

Peril glanced out the window, swinging her backpack on her back. Someone's coming! she thought worriedly. There was banging on the door. She glanced out the window, catching sight of a black haired person holding a sword.

They're breaking into the houses now. I need to get out of here. Peril dashed to the back door, flinging it open and then hardly stopped herself from screaming. But then she realized who it was.

"You!" she spat. Fire seemed to flash inside her, faster than a striking snake, more vicious than anything.

Dark.
