She entered her floor with the boxes in her hands, a sigh escaped her mouth as she placed them in the corner of the room.

She didn't move to the tower but tony insisted to have her floor just so if she needed to stay for the night she would have her own place there.

She sat on the couch and put her head in her hands, massaging her temple for relief. There wasn't much work she did in the only day but at least she was satisfied in the matter of tony.

She needed to talk with one more person but she wanted him to give him some time and space. But maybe that someone didn't want any more time or her friend just talked to him saving her some trouble.

Steve entered her floor only to see her sitting there looking tired and he looked at her with Damon's words in his head.

All these years she kept cleaning other people's messes something that wasn't hers to clean. She is tired steve.

She was tired, he could see that. So he walked towards her and sat next to her. She was so lost in whatever was in her mind that she didn't notice his presence.

He chuckled internally and put his hand on her shoulder before whispering a little hey. She looked up, a little startled.

She was surprised seeing him there, "what are you doing here?" her words make him chuckle.

"I can go if you want" he joked and tried to get up but she pulled him down.

"No, I didn't mean-" she said without looking at him but he stopped her.

"I was just joking" he grabbed her hand but still she didn't look at him. He grabbed her face and tilted it in his direction.

She finally looked at him. Steve sighed at the sadness in her eyes.

"Do you trust me?" she frowned at his question but still nodded.

"Yes, I do"

He smiled, "Then why did it take so long to tell me? Why were you so hesitant." thankfully he didn't wait for her to answer or she will have to repeat the things she has been telling herself for so long.

"I love you y/n and there is nothing that could stop my feelings for you. Yes, it was a shock to see you here after all these years. And the way I got to know about you was painful not because you are a monster as you claim." he paused.

"It was painful to see you getting burnt that day or seeing that pain in your eyes as you were controlling yourself smelling my blood. That guilty expression on your face. And finally, it was painful to hear you telling me, why you didn't tell. That you think you are a monster and I'll just leave you?"

"I am a fucking experiment myself." she was surprised hearing him curse, he could see that but didn't stop.

"You were with me when no one was, you loved that scrawny little boy" his eyes were desperate to make her understand his feelings.

"You weren't scrawny little boy" she whispered, he was more than that to her. A brave boy always standing up against wrong, never scared of anything.

"And you are not a monster" he whispered back, placing both hands on her face. "I needed time to understand all of this but that doesn't mean I hate or― you mean so much to me and just because you are a vampire now it doesn't matter to me, just as me being captain America doesn't matter to you"

"or does it?" he added, chuckling.

She gave me a little smile, "but you are a hero, and I―"

"A hero too, you are an avenger. You save people y/n, even before being a part of the team. So please stop saying shit about yourself"

A tired sigh escaped his mouth, making her giggle.

"I wasn't saying monster or anything but okay" he chuckled at her words and kept looking in her lovingly, his back relaxing against the couch.

"And― I love you too" she whispered. He didn't say anything just kept staring. Suddenly she felt a bit shy under his gaze, just like she would stare at her little Stevie to make him shy.

She knew he was taking his revenge and chuckled lightly breaking the eye contact.

"What?" he smirked but she shook her head.

"Nothing!" and relaxed her body against his, putting her head on his chest. His arms automatically wrapped around her.

It didn't feel like there was a gap of decades between them, it all felt normal. Talking causally in each other's arms.

"But I still don't feel good about thinking to feed on you" she just wanted him to know how bad she felt about that.

"Stop thinking about that, it's over now!" it came out a bit more harsh than intended but the captain-ish voice he used on her somehow didn't scare or anger her, in fact, quite the opposite but before she could think further he interrupted.

"Or maybe― you can try that," he said, making her gasp in surprise. "I have read it feels... euphoric?" she gasped hearing his words.

"Who are you, what you did with my steve" she laughed making him embarrassed.

"And where did you read that" she raised her eyebrows playfully.

"Umm.. google," he said hesitantly.

"Oh my god, you googled that" he put her head again on his chest mumbling something. "And when did you learn to google things old man," she asked still laughing loudly.

"You are not funny! Stop"

Finally, after some moments, her laughter died and they were silenced. Her face still nuzzled against his chest, his shirt soft against her cheeks.

He felt her getting more relaxed in his arms causing him to frown, "babe?" he got up a bit to see her with a relaxed face and closed eyes, her hands grabbing his shirt.

He chuckled not knowing how she slept suddenly. He picked her up carefully after some time, causing her to move in her sleep, and walked into her room.

Putting her on the bed he turned to leave but her hands grabbed his hand stopping him. He turned towards her, eyes still closed. "Stay. please" she voice sleepy.

He smiled softly and thought for a moment before getting onto the other side of the bed. She turned and moved near him wrapping her arms around him, she looked up and opened her eyes lazily.

Their faces an inch away, she could his breath on her face. She felt his heartbeat increasing as she moved closer.

Her eyes caught his for a moment to see any hesitance, any doubt but found none. Finally, their lips met, something she had been wanting for so long. Her hands gripped his shirt pulling him more into her, as their lips moved against each other.

His hands grabbed her face as he kissed her slowly, trying to remember her softness as if she would fade the next moment.

They both separated to catch their breath before opening their eyes, now filled with unshed tears.

"I love you" they both whispered desperately, together, causing them to chuckle before going to sleep in each other arms.
