"Dear Hoseok,
Do you know how hard this is for me to write? Do you know how much pain you've put me in since you left me? I really thought we were going to live together once everything's over. I thought—finally—we won't have to hide our relationship once and for all. But hell, I was wrong. We were wrong. Why would you break your promise to me? You said we will buy a house, somewhere far away from here, and we will live and die together. You told me that you will tell your mother about us once you finish your mission, but why must it be you that had to go? Why wasn't it me?
I feel bad for myself. I feel bad for you. I feel bad for everyone that will be hurt in the process of us trying to be heroes. Because we never were. We were just kids who wanted to be something everyone will be proud of. But maybe, we shouldn't have done this. Maybe then, we would still be in your gardens, playing our silly little games, running around like fools, and fighting like idiots. Maybe if we didn't want to help our home from the Hearth's hands, we wouldn't have risked our lives to accomplish what needs to be done. We wouldn't have lost our time to love. I wouldn't have had to lose you. You wouldn't have had to die.
I love you, Hoseok. More than anyone would know. It's been months since you left me all alone, and I don't know if I can withstand living without you.
And because of that, I'll come after you soon. I promise.
Your soul,
Y"—
The palace guard rushes back to the cabin to check on what Yeonjun was grumbling over the line. Whatever it might be, he heard how the younger sounded upset. Opening the door, Yoongi was met with the candlelight burning to its death, and then he saw him on the ground, sobbing. "Yeonjun—"
"What..." Yeonjun was on the floor, on his knees as he wailed with his hands clasped upon his mouth. "What will Taehyun do once he finds out?" With shivering hands, Yeonjun slowly raised his head up as he held the paper in between his fingers. "What the hell is this letter, Yoongi?"
"What happened, Jun?" Yoongi asks as he put down the weapons onto the side of the door, taking off his metal boot. "What are you... Holding?"
And Yoongi realised.
The truth. The answer. The answer all of the Mists have been looking for is now in front of Yeonjun's hands. What happened to him. What happened to the former General. What happened to Taehyun's brother.
What happened to Hoseok.
It's now in front of Yeonjun's eyes. The quest is over... But he knows no one will accept hearing this. Especially not Taehyun. "No— This... This isn't true, right?" Yeonjun's body shudders as it started to process. All this time, what they were looking for is gone. Long gone. He had been glittering ash, and no one had told anyone. "Why... Why would you hide this?!"
Yeonjun rapidly stood up from the wooden floor and rushed to Yoongi, grasping onto his collar and pinned him against the wall. "General Jung..." Yeonjun cries. "What will Taehyun do once he finds out, huh? Why didn't you tell anyone the minute it happened?!" Yeonjun terrors and cries more, pushing Yoongi upon the wall multiple times, furious. Yeonjun is hurtful, confused, and furious, and not sure of how Taehyun will respond to the news that he had just heard. Taehyun lost his mother, and now, he'd hear about his brother?
"This is the reason why, Yeonjun! This is the fucking reason why!" Yoongi screams and resisted Yeonjun's force, pushing him away. "If you're going to react like this and make it seem that it's my fault, you won't listen to what I'm going to fucking say!"
