Yeonjun spent a week, then another, then a month in the Hearths. He spent most of his time cleaning the cabin and fixing what there is needed to be, as said to him by Yoongi.
And Yoongi was mostly out, gathering evidence, and even had a hold on one of the salves that Doctor Park had prepared. That was their routine the whole time they were together and during Yeonjun's stay in the other side.
Their plan was to make Yeonjun stay there for just a few weeks, but with things not going so well with their plans, the fairy soldier stayed there longer, even weeks after the Mist's mourning ceremonies.
. . .
"Beomgyu, do you know where Yeonjun might have gone?" Taehyun asks the older sitting beside him, who was playing with the pistol with his fingers. "His boyfriend's been up my ass the for the past week."
He stopped spinning the pistol around his finger and veered to look at Taehyun, "Boyfriend?" Beomgyu curiously asks, chewing the bread they were eating together in the gardens. They were out here having a little picnic, because, in the smallest way, Beomgyu wanted to make an effort to distract Taehyun for a moment.
It has been a month since the mourning ceremonies ended and the flags and banners were back to how and where they used to hang, and everyone's activities had gone back. Taehyun knew how hard this will be, having to just keep going on after her death, but he'll try.
"Yes, Gyu. Apparently, their lieutenant, the one who confessed to Yeonjun? They're together now." And Taehyun couldn't be happier. He's known Yeonjun since they were little, and Lieutenant Choi had been with him when he was still training to be a general. It's nice to see the two he holds close being together.
But it really is hard.
Yeonjun suddenly disappeared off from the face of their kingdom, and every minute, every moment, and every second—Lieutenant Choi strains Taehyun to speak up about where he might be. Yet he couldn't answer every time because Taehyun doesn't know where the hell his friend is.
"What's a "boyfriend"?" Beomgyu's face was looking at him with curious eyes, wondering what the word boyfriend might be. Is it when a boy has a friend? Is Yeonjun his boyfriend, then, too?
Taehyun was left in surprise. "Huh?" He almost choked on the piece of bread he was munching.
"Huh..?" Beomgyu was confused. Why was the other laughing? Was his guess wrong?
"Are you sure you don't know? Really?" Taehyun wanted to crack up, but he tried not to. Well, they basically just admitted to themselves about what they feel and now Beomgyu says this? He can't help but laugh it off yet feel a bit grim about it.
"Really. Tell me, what is it?" Beomgyu chugs the water down and faced Taehyun, adjusting his position to face him. "If I understand it well, a "boyfriend" is a friend who's a boy. So, you and Yeonjun are... My boyfriends?"
That was Taehyun's last straw. He laughed, loud enough for everyone around the Mist to hear. "Oh, wow, Gyu. You really don't know, huh?" Taehyun stumbles upon his words as his laugh attempted to stifle him on his throat.
"Taehyun, what? I'm done. I don't understand shit." Beomgyu throws the pistol to the ground and rolled his eyes, dusting off the dirt that stuck on his clothing.
"Are you leaving..? Beomgyu, wait!"
Beomgyu was already walking away and not looking back even when he called him. "Beomgyu!" he rushed to him, placing his grasp on Beomgyu's arms, stopping him.
When he turned to look at the general, "What do you want? Make fun of me for not knowing?" he rolls off. All his life, he wasn't able to know that much, or learn how to say the right words at the right time, so being laughed at by Taehyun somehow stung him.
