~Recap~
In the end, I never text Conner for dinner and told my mom to forget the garlic bread. Then I did chores that needed to be done and waited on Mom to get home.
+++++++++++++++++++I pulled on the sleeves of my long sleeve shirt until I had finally come to the conclusion that they were not going to reach my palms. Tugging the bottom of my beenie over my ears, I stepped out onto the asphalt of the parking lot of the café. I looked at the address and then the café, checking to make sure the address was right.
A sign above the pastel green door had the name written in cursive letters.
Coffe Café
I made sure my headphones were in my pocket and then headed into the café. Sitting down at a table closer to the door, I scanned the shop for any sign of Conner and found none. In had almost given up and went home when my phone rang.
Conner: Hey. Where are you? Your car isn't at your house.
Me: Yeah. I'm at the cafe. Did you want me to wait on you?
Conner: No. That's okay. I'll be there in a minute or two.
Me: Okay...
When he didn't answer back I decided to go outside and wait on him. I pulled my headphones out of my pocket and plugged them into my phone. The speakers of my earbuds yelled the voice of Luke Hemmings into my ears until I saw Conner's car pull into the parking lot.
I put my headphones away and walked over and leaned against the side of the car. "Hi," I greeted. He climbed out of the car and didn't answer. "Conner? Is everything okay?" I couldn't see his face after I asked the question meaning I don't know of I made his mood better or worse. "Conner?" I asked, trying to get him to look up.
Instead of answering or looking up he wrapped his arms around me, hugging me. I wrapped the arm he didn't have pinned between both of our chests around his torso. "Conner, what's wrong?" I was very concerned by now. He pulled back and I saw tears in his eyes. "Why are you crying?"
"Tears are the words the mouth can't say nor can the heart bare," was all he answered with.
"I don't see how Jermey Wisenbaker has anything to do with this." I commented. He finally smiled and gave a faint laugh. "I love how you understand my quotes." I took his hand and started towards the café. He held the door open for me and I grabbed his hand again as we headed to the counter.
I ordered a hot chocolate and Conner ordered a coffee that I couldn't say to save my life. He also ordered me a muffin that I didn't want, but when I tried to object he would say, "Everyone has to try a muffin from the Coffe Café or they haven't experienced everything." When the cashier gave us our receipt she had written her number on it, which Conner carefully tore off and slid it back over to her.
To prove his point further, he took both of our drinks and kissed me on the forehead, which caused me to blush. We sat at a table at the front of the café near a window. "Thank you. For coming to get coffee with me." He seemed a little shy as he spoke. I took a drink of my hot chocolate and Conner added, "And hot cocoa."
Smiling, I took a bite of the muffin and I could feel my eyes widening as I chewed. Conner smiled and I commented, "It's like heaven infused into food."
He laughed and I sat the muffin back down on a napkin. "Aren't you glad I got the muffin?" I nodded and Conner reached over and picked the muffin up. I watched him take a bite and sit it back down, first observing and then glaring. "You ate my heaven food." I slid the muffin closer to me and Conner drank some of his coffee.
We stayed for an hour, sharing my muffin and drinking our warm drinks until twelve thirty. Conner grabbed his keys from his pocket and stood. "Are you ready to go?" He asked. "Hmmm." I stood and grabbed my half finished hot chocolate. We walked to the door together in silence. I'm the one that brakes it, "Conner, do you want to come over for lunch?"
He stopped unlocking the driver's side door and looked at me. "That would be wonderful, Stella Gotham."
+++++++++++++++++++He followed me home and held the door open for me, even though it was my house. I threw my keys on the kitchen table and sat my cup beside it. Conner followed me to the kitchen and put his coffee down on the counter. I opened the fridge and awkwardly leaned against the door to show Conner the contents of it. "I know we have stuff to make pizza and I think Mom bought milk this morning." I turned to him and smiled. "We can have pizza or cereal."
He shrugged. "Pizza it is."
I pulled peppers and shredded cheese and many other things from the fridge and placed them on the counter. "Where is the pizza dough?" he asked. I smiled, "In this house we make our own pizza dough."
"How do even know how to do that?"
"My grandma was Italian. We don't use processed noodles either. Last night my mom and I made spaghetti. That was a three hour process."
I walked over to a drawer and pulled out a dough roller and waved it at him. "Come on, Conner. This pizza isn't going to make its self." He walked around me and moved everything over to the opposite counter of me so I would have room to work. I opened the fridge again and pulled out a roll of dough me and mom had left over from making pasta noodles last night.
Conner handed me the large bin of flour from the counter on my command. Then the fun began.
++++++++++++++++++++++++At five o'clock, Conner and I finally pulled the pizza out of the oven. We were also covered in flour. I had ran to my room afterwards and quickly changed into some clean clothes. I pulled my raven hair into a pony tail and went back into the living room.
Conner was laying on the couch, his hair coated in flour. I yawned, seeing him so comfortable. Slowly I walked over to him and sat down on the edge of the couch. I placed my hand on his shoulder and easily shook him. "Conner. Wake up." When he shifted off his arm I thought he was waking so I slowly started to move. I had turned away for only a second when I was pulled down beside him.
His arms were wrapped around me and he was breathing heavily. "Conner," I whispered. "Conner wake up." His breathing never changed and he didn't shift again.
He's asleep stupid and you're not going anywhere unless he wakes up or Mom gets home...Plus you're already falling asleep.
My voice was being awfully rude now that Conner was literally right next to me.
Shut up. I'm not gonna fall asleep.
But then...I did.
