~Recap~
I'm hiding from myself. What is wrong with me?
Everything.
My voice gladly commented. I stared up at the shower head.
Maybe it will end soon.
All the Bright Places Quote: What if life could be this way? Only the happy parts, none of the terrible, not even the mildly unpleasant. What if we could cut out the bad and keep the good?
+++++++++++++++++++The halls in the school were quiet. No one glanced at me, just like they didn't pay attention to me before Conner Bliu ever talked to me. Or even knew me. I had walked into Home Ec and looked around. Everyone else was doing something. They didn't even look at me. At least they didn't until Conner laced his arms around my waist and kissed me.
When he pulled away I was positive that everyone in the room was glaring at us. "I think that is the third time you have done that without me consenting." I told him.
He smiled, "Fourth. And you enjoyed it every time."
I shifted my books on my side and saw the horrid glare the teacher was giving us. Grabbing the sleeve of Conner's jacket, I tugged him over to an empty table at the back of the class.
We sat down and I looked at him and corrected his earlier statement. "I'm pretty sure that the first time you kissed me, I hit you."
Conner's smile widened a bit and he kissed me on the cheek. "You enjoyed that as well, even of you don't want to admit it, I know."
"Mr. Bliu. Miss Gotham. Do I need to remove you from my class room?" our teacher was looking over at us like we were vermin on her desk. I wrapped my arms around my stomach and looked down at the fake marble table that I was sitting at.
"May I proceed?" she asked another question, which wasn't meant to be answered but Conner answered it. "Yeah, go ahead. Its not like any one is actually listening."The teacher's face reddened with anger and the entire class looked in the direction of me for the second time today. I tried to shrink in my seat.
"Let us test your theory then, Mr. Bliu." The teacher turned to one of the girls that usually applied all of her daily make up during this class and asked her a question about something she had just talked about and the girl stared at her. She was midway through glossing her lips. She looked up at the teacher over her small mirror and the teacher let out a sigh. "Please tell me someone n this class has been paying attention."
A basketball player raised his hand and brought it down as the rest of the class followed him in a fit of laughter. The teacher looked at me and asked, " And you, Stella? Have you listened at all this year?"
I glanced up from my inspection of the table and shook my head. The class roared with laughter again. "Even the freak doesn't listen to your lessons," someone shouted. I bit the inside of my cheek and Conner squeezed my hand. I was pretty sure that I was bleeding by the time the class ended. Conner stood with me and I lied and said I was getting a headache. He understood that meant I was going home and nodded without a complaint.
