My phone rang and rang for hours but I refused to answer. I threw it across the room after putting it on silent and I crawled into my bed.
"Ara?" Mom called from the door.
"Yeah?" I tried to sound as normal as possible.
"Can we talk?" I got up and opened the door. "Are you okay?" I nodded taking a seat by my window.
"You look upset." She pushed some more and I shook my head as she sat next to me.
"I'm fine." I finally responded.
"You think I haven't noticed? You and Ty aren't talking, Nate and Ty barely want to look at each other and you've been extremely happy for the past month and a half. Not saying that's a bad thing but you've been disappearing quite a lot and spending time with someone, my question is who?"
"It doesn't matter now. I was stupid."
"You're not stupid. What happened?" Tears ran down my face.
"I don't know where to start." She wiped my eyes.
"Start from the beginning. I missed our talks."
"So um... you know Jordan right, we met Jordan at a party and turns out he was Ty's childhood bff."
"So this is about Jordan? Oh god." She sighed.
"Yeah I know." I rolled my eyes taking in a shaky breath.
"I could already see how this could go entirely wrong but continue."
"Okay, so from the moment I met him he was so persistent you know, but I was reluctant and with reason but he was determined so he kept pushing until I gave in."
"That's who you've been spending your time with?"
"Yeah." My voice cracked as I played with my hands.
"Then what happened? Why do you look so upset?" She wiped away my tears again.
"We talked, we got close, and he wanted to hang out more so we made a deal. I would try to open up if he would stop thinking with his dick."
"And how did that work out?"
"It was good until I caught him with a girl this morning."
"So you were jealous?"
"No I— not exactly, that's besides the point mom." I groaned with smiled.
"If it was then why did you mention it?" She smiled back.
"I don't know okay, I don't know... you wanted to know everything so I'm telling you everything." I defended getting flustered.
"Okay, okay continue." She laughed.
"So I found him and I was trying to leave but he stopped me and he told me to come back later and I did but he wasn't there. His friend was and then..." I took a shaky deep breath. "He told me the truth."
"What truth?"
"The truth that this whole time he didn't really care about me he just thought I was a good challenge to take on because I was... resilient." I started crying again.
