Nightfall

Chapter 4🌙

Ares' pov:

My pack has been busy the entire week. Trying to get rid of the centaurs that have crossed over into our land. They are stubborn creatures, so it's taken longer than expected. This is tedious...it's wasting valuable time. I have other matters to attend to.

Elias, my second and the beta of this pack, is running the perimeters to make sure we have gotten rid of all the centaurs. The rest of my close circle do the same as Elias. Elias and Aaron go west. Nikolas and Klaus go east.

The north and south are covered by kingdom guards. I run through the forest making sure we havent missed any unwanted intruders.

It seems like we have got everyone so I mindlink Elias and the rest of the wolves.

We can head back I...I can't smell anymore centaurs. Have you guys found anything? I ask to me sure this job is done properly.

It's all clear over here, Elias informs us.

All good here aswell, Klaus says.

I think we can finally call this a night.

Wait! I can sense something! Another presence, another wolf. Aaron says in a curious tone.

We were not informed of another wolf entering this territory...so this sparks interest.

The wolf is coming in from the west, I think it's a girl.

This is strange, so I instruct my group to follow closely behind. Wolves that aren't apart of this pack cannot be here. This is my territory. We have to lead her to the river styx...she won't be able to jump across and we can question her.

She is getting closer to the middle of the land, I want everybody following. I tell them, based on this intrusion and the time of  day, something isn't adding up.

I don't think this was a simple mistake that will be fixed in quickly.

She is getting closer to the east...I think we should start closing in, Nikolas suggests.

I Join the chase, because she has passed near me.

This is a new wolf...one of high status. My group has been running for such a long time...basically throughout the kingdom lands. It shouldn't be long until we reach the river.

We start spreading put so she can't make it past us. We reach the river and everyone stops running, or we would have all flown off the mountain, down into The River Styx.

We are all panting from running so much. Something isn't right. The wolf turns around to face us...growling. Is she not aware that I am the alpha of this territory. She must back down. I slowly move towards her, demanding she submit...but she doesn't waver.

Then something changes. The world falls away and I can only see her. My body is buzzing and I can't focus on my surroundings. My mind is barking out one word at me. It's so intense.

Mate

I pause for a second then continue walking. I mindlink Elias and Aaron to shift back to their human forms. He does that, and speaks loud and clear for her to hear. "Stop running. You are cornered and cannot escape. Shift back into your human form so we can talk." He says calmly...so it doesn't scare her away.

In a split second she turns and is ready to jump into the river. Elias acts quickly, shooting an arrow laced with a sleeping spell, into her back. We have to question her...I need to know who she is.

Take her back to the pack house and lock her in the dungeon. She can't escape again...she is very strong, so make sure the cell is guarded. She has crossed into our territory unannounced and that  breaks the treaty.

Elias and the group start transporting her to the pack house. We travel all the way back and leave her in one of the cells for higher order creatures. She is strong and not an average wolf. She must be contained and monitored. She won't be asleep for long...the tranquilizer will fade and she will be awake.

Who could she possibly be...
