Ares' pov:

"I can't do this. You are screwing with my plan."Scarlett breathes out. I don't back away. Memorizing every detail on her face. She is beautiful. We don't move...we just stand there admiring each other.

"Stop running." I whisper. She can't leave. I don't think she realizes I won't ever let anything happen to her. She has to trust me. I'll have to earn her trust...no matter how long it takes.

She will be mine...

She is mine...

She was trying to leave me earlier. I had to come up with a bullshit excuse as to why she couldn't leave just yet. I have waited years...waited for her to show up. To rule my pack beside me.

Elias can tell something is going on. He watched how we reacted to each other today. He has known me the longest. I trust him completely. I made him my second, the Beta of Styx Wolfpack because of the trust we have for each other.

I have to help Scarlett. I won't let Demetrius take her away from me.

"Scarlett! Are you sure you want to slee-"Aaron stands at the doorway.

Scarlett is on the other side of the room in an instant. "What are you guys doing in here? I thought you went to bed..."

I am going to strangle Aaron...

He looks at me." You said you were going to your office to get work done." I shift uncomfortably. "We were discussing the plans for tomorrow...she will be training with us." I tell Aaron. I don't know if he believes it.

Scarlett stays quiet.

"Yeah, training tomorrow..." She looks at him nervously." Oh okay...if you say so..." he leaves the room with a mischievous grin. Leaving me and Scarlett alone again.

"I have to rest...it's been a long day. Goodnight Ares." She says hesitantly. She walks into her bathroom and I'm left alone in her bedroom.

I leave, and actually go to my office to look over my duties. Elias waits by my door, and turns around when he hears my footsteps.

"Are we going to talk about it?" He asks me." Talk about what?" I play dumb. "The fact that Scarlett is your mate..." He says smugly.

" I don't know what you are talking about." I say back to him, looking down at a pile of papers on my desk.

" Come on, I've known you for most of your life. I'm not blind...the way you act around each other. I saw that little staring contest when we were eating dinner. Pull your head out of your ass..." I look up at him with a scowl. If he was anybody else I would have ripped his head off.

"It's obvious you are mates. You have waited years...and now she is finally here. What is the problem?" He asks me tilting his head, a frown etched onto his face.

"She doesn't want to admit we are mates." I say calmly, even though I'm freaking out on the inside.

He looks shocked that I actually gave in." I can feel it and I know she can too. She is scared. Demetrius poses a huge threat...if I can eliminate him, then she won't feel the need to run anymore." I tell him, that has to be the only reason she won't admit it.

"That's tough, man. I'm sure everything will work out. You definitely have her attention. Just let the bond do its thing." He gives me a thoughtful look and leaves my office.

We have a lot to do tomorrow. That centaur business delayed training for the pups. We have to do major training programs for the whole pack.

I wonder how Scarlett will react to the rest of the pack. She saw most of them when we were eating dinner, but I want to see her reaction to the training programs.

My pack is one of the strongest in the realm. We have all worked hard getting to this point. I finish up the last of my work.

I go to my bedroom and welcome sleep...

Tomorrow holds many wonders...
