Over the next two weeks Sophie and I teach the rest of the group how to manipulate the elements. Using fire to light a candle and torches and eventually being able to burn the ground.
With air we made mini-whirlwinds that we gradually increased in size. Using wind to knock people over or make it difficult for them to stand.
Earth was the last, I showed them how to grow and manipulate trees to your advantage. Make boulders and rocks float and create small earthquakes.
The group has practiced a lot and are getting better, although improvements can me made. We have made amazing progress, so I think this inevitable fight will go well. However, fear does creep into me and I can't stop this uneasy feeling in my stomach.
I feel lile something bad is going to happen soon, but I have no idea what could possibly happen, so I'm on edge.
It's currently raining with the occasional rumble of thunder. The house has been locked up and everyone has found a cozy place to sit. The group and I sit in one of the common rooms all huddled together and talking about things that don't matter.
"Look, all I'm saying is that if a spoon and fork were to fight, the fork would obviously win" Aaron tells the group, gesturing to his silverware." Do you realize how insane you sound right now?" Elias questions Aaron but I'm not really focused on them.
I'm trying to figure out where Ares has gone. I stand up and excuse myself from the group, and walk through the dark hallways of the pack house.
There isn't any light because the storm caused the electricity to trip so we brought out candles and lamps. The light casts an orange-gold colour over the walls, but it's kind of faint.
Flashback
7 years ago...
~~~
A fierce storm pours down onto the castle roof. Lightning and thunder clash outside and paint the dark sky into a silver mess. I always loved storms because I could curl up in a ball and sleep.
I wouldn't be the only chaotic thing and I could relate to the miserableness it provided others. It wouldn't just be me facing the storm alone, everyone was faced with it aswell.
I close my eyes, but I don't sleep. The flashes of light distract me and I find myself thinking about random things.
"Scarlett..." a voice whispers in the darkness and I jump under the covers.
Hypothetically, this wouldn't save me from an intruder but it's kind of instinct. I slowly come out from under my blanket and stare at the door."Scarlett can I please sleep with you..."Elijah speaks softly in the darkness. I look up and see his pillow and teddybear in his hands, with his face stained with tears.
"I'm scared..." his voice cracks. My heart breaks and I nod my head. I realize he won't be able to see me, so I use my fire ability to make a small flame in my hand to light up the room.
"Yeah, come on." I gesture to my bed and he waddles over to me. He climbs onto my bed and moves under the covers. My bed is big enough to fit both of us, so we aren't squished.
"Are you okay?" I ask softly and turn my body so it's facing his. "Yeah I'm okay now." He says cheerfully. We turn and watch the ceiling.
"You don't ever have to be afraid Elijah...I'll always be there to protect you..."
"I promise..."
