15 Backstage

Roman POV

"Oh my God, Roman! Where have you been so long?" I suddenly heard Renée's voice as I made my way to the locker room with Steffi by the hand.

Steffi looked up at me and had a questioning look on her face. Although I had warned her that something like this could happen. Only I hadn't expected it within the first 5 minutes in the arena.

"Ready to meet everyone, baby girl?" I asked my girlfriend as I lightly squeezed her hand.

"Sure." she replied, however, sounding rather nervous, even self-conscious.

"Renée, this is Stefanie. Steffi, this is Renée. She works here too, and she's Dean's girl." I explained to her.

"This is her? My goodness, she's so pretty." Renée said to me excitedly, grinning all over her face.

"Um... I'm right here." mumbled Steffi.

"Oh I'm so sorry. I'm being so rude. It's so nice to finally meet you, Stefanie. I've been waiting a long to meet the woman who drives Roman so crazy." the blonde replied, addressing Steffi.

"My God, Renée! You're even worse than my sisters. Can you cool it a bit?" said I, embarrassed.

"It's okay, babe. I think it's really cute." said Stefanie to me as she lifted our joined hands and pressed a kiss to the back of my hand.

"And it's nice to meet you too, Renée." she continued.

"Roman- meeting in five minutes." said Jamie to me as he walked by.

"Okay, Miss King. I need to get this done quickly. Then I'll be back with you real quick. Renée do you have time to keep her company?" he said.

"I'd love to, actually. Your last name is King? That's fantastic! Should you guys get married, you'll definitely have to have a double name! King-Reigns sounds brilliant!" she immediately babbled.

"Dear God woman! Stop it, I'm begging you!" I growled, rubbing a hand over my most definitely deeply red face.

Steffi stood in front of me and put her free hand to my cheek. Just as she had done earlier today. Patiently she waited for me to look at her. Her blue eyes glowed with understanding. She knew it was probably a little embarrassing for me. But deep down I couldn't deny that it sounded really damn good.

"Don't be embarrassed by it, Ro. I know it's just for fun. And I don't mind. You should go now. Otherwise you'll be really late. I love you." said Stefanie softly and then stood on her tiptoes to reach out to me.

I gave her a kiss and then took the time to look deep into her eyes. Those eyes that always reassured me. No matter where or when.

"I love you too. You can come to the ring with me later when Seth and I rehearse our match." I replied before giving her another kiss.

After I finished our meeting and got changed, I went in search of my gorgeous girlfriend. It didn't take long to find her, because I had met Renée in the hallway. She was on her way to her own meeting and told me she had left Steffi in catering.

With quick steps I made my way there. As I stood in the doorway, I saw her drawing on her iPad. She had probably had an idea for a client and wanted to capture it immediately. Her creativity was often sparked by the simplest things. That's why she always had either her iPad or paper and pencil with her.

As I took the first step toward her, I saw Summer Rae approach Stefanie.

"Who are you? Are you the new girl?" Summer wanted to know, and I didn't like her tone at all.

"No, I'm-" began Steffi, looking totally confused.

"Listen to me. We have enough women here already, and I hope, for your sake, that you stick to the hierarchy." she continued to growl.

"I'm not a wrestler. I'm-" Steffi started again, but again Summer cut her off.

"Oh, let me guess? You're one of those ring rats? Let me tell you something, girl. None of the men here would want you." sneered Summer.

I had heard enough. Anger was already starting to rise inside me.

"What the hell do you think you're doing talking to my girlfriend like that, huh?" I snapped at her.

Summer visibly flinched and slowly turned around to face me. With wide, frightened eyes, she looked up at me.

"Ro-Roman! Your girlfriend? Gosh, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." she said first to me then to Steffi.

"You should be sorry for that. Now get out of my sight, you arrogant bitch!" I growled, glaring angrily at her until she had backed off.

"My goodness, what was that?" asked Steffi quietly as I sat down next to her and wrapped my arm around her waist.

"That was a woman who was obviously intimidated by your beauty and charisma and tried to mark her territory immediately." I explained to her.

As I did so, I looked closely at her face. I was looking for signs of how she was feeling. 

"Some women... unbelievable." she said simply as she rolled her eyes and then shook her head.

"Wow. That ring is way harder than I would have thought. I'm surprised you're not constantly black and blue, babe." said Steffi after I helped her into the ring and she walked around in it.

"You get used to it. Trust me. It takes a lot of training." I explained as I joined her in the corner.

When she turned to face me, I simply lifted her onto the top rope. Then I stood on the bottom rope so I was eye level with her. Steffi smiled at me as she put her arms around my neck and stole a kiss.

"Ready, Roman?" I heard Seth's voice say at the exact moment I felt the ring move.

"Always. Seth, this is Stefanie. You remember? Baby girl, this is Seth. I told you about him." I said.

"Hi Stefanie." said Seth.

"Oh! You're one of the guys who helped save me! Thanks for that by the way." replied Steffi.

"I did. Well a little bit at least. And I have to say, you're much prettier without all that blood on your face. I'm glad you're okay again. Roman was really messed up because of you," Seth joked.

Why was everyone out to embarrass me in front of my girl today?

"Well, thank you. Roman is a true treasure and my hero. I don't think many people would have been able to do what he did. And that he was concerned shows what a compassionate, great person he is." replied Steffi and then took my hand firmly in hers.

"I agree with you. And it makes me happy to see him, both of you, so happy." Seth said and then patted me on the back.
