"ABOUT?" Zach signs.
"SOMETHING. CAN SKYLAR LEAVE?"
"I'll go" I say out loud, but I know Zach is watching.
"N0" he signs to me.
"IT'S FINE. I NEED TO TALK TO EMILY ANYWAY."
"STAY" Zach signs, and I turn towards Ryan.
"You can stay. It's fine. Just go to his room or something. It won't be long" he says to me and signs at the same time.
I nod and go upstairs to Zach's room. I sit on his bed and pull out my phone. I see that I have 2 messages from Emily.
Emily: Hey, what are you doing?
Emily: Hello?
Me: Sorry. I wasn't on my phone. What's up?
Emily: Where were you?
Me: At the park with Zach and his friends.
Emily: You met his friends? That's a big step.
Me: Not really. We are already dating. Plus, he met you.
Emily: I don't count. I basically live at your house.
Me: True.
Emily: So, how were the friends?
Me: Fine. Only one of them was hearing so I talked mostly to her.
Emily: What's her name?
Me: Margaret.
Emily: You better not be replacing me.
Me: You never know.
Emily: Ha ha. Very funny.
Emily: Anyway, where are you now?
Me: In Zach's room.
Emily: Oh. Was I interrupting?
Me: Shut up. No. He is downstairs with his brother.
Emily: Why aren't you down there?
Me: Ryan told me to leave. I don't know.
Emily: Are you worried about it?
Me: I wasn't until now. Do you think I should be?
Emily: It's probably fine.
Me: Whatever. I think it is. Why did you text me?
Emily. Right. I was going to ask if you wanted to come over for dinner. My mom she hasn't seen you in forever.
Me: I saw her yesterday.
Emily: Well, to her, that's forever. Plus, it wasn't today. You've been with Zach, like, all the time now.
Me: Sorry. Yeah, I'll come for dinner. What time?
Emily: 6:30?
Me: Okay. See you then.
Emily: Bye.
Me: Bye.
I close out of my texts and grab my earbuds out of my bag. I turn on some music and lay down on Zach's bed and close my eyes.
After about 15 minutes, I feel someone kiss my cheek. I jump and look up. Then I see Zach smirking at me.
"SORRY" he signs.
"IT'S FINE. JUST SCARED ME. WHAT DID RYAN WANT?"
"NOT MUCH."
"IT TOOK 20 MINUTES. WHAT WAS IT?"
"IT'S NOTHING."
I notice the look on his face and decide not to push it. He'll tell me when he's ready for me to know.
