Natasha Romanoff x Reader

Summary: natasha and the reader finally have all the time in the world

Warnings: nightmares

Word Count: 1.2k

"An irreversible debt, a soul for a soul," The mysterious man said. Nat knew what this meant, she knew what she had to do. Natasha approached you as you starred down the cliff, "So I'm guessing we both know what needs to happen here."
"Yeah I think we do," You replied looking straight into Nat's eyes. You could tell exactly what she was thinking, "Nat it's not going to be you, I'm not going to let you do that."
"What? You seriously think I'm going to let you do this? Y/N I can't live without you."
"And you think I could live without you?" Natasha didn't care what you said, there was no way she was letting you give your life for her. "Detka, it has to be me. I've made a lot of mistakes in my life and-"
"Don't you dare try and tell me that I deserve to live more than you do Natasha." Nat knew you didn't want to hear it, but in her eyes that was true. "You are such a good person, you always have been detka, but I-"
"But nothing, nothing you did was your fault," You said as you went to hold her hands in yours and press your forehead against hers. The two of you stood there in silence, enjoying what you both knew was the last time you would feel each other's skin. "I love you Y/N, and I'm sorry," Nat broke the silence.
The redhead flipped you onto your back as she made a run for the edge of the cliff. You were stunned in pain for a moment before you realized what she was about to do. You reached into your pocket and pulled out an electric disk. You made your best attempt to toss it at the redhead and soon she had fallen over as electricity jolted through her body. "I'm sorry my love," You said started making your way to the edge, but Nat stuck her foot out and tripped you.
Natasha got herself up and jumped off the edge of the cliff, "NO!" You screamed as you jumped after her. Mid-air you grabbed her body and wrapped the graphing hook chord around her waist.
In a panic, Natasha reached for your hand, but at this point, there was nothing left she could do. She held onto your hand as if her life depended on it, "Nat..."
"Hold on, I-I'm going to find a way to get you up there okay just hold on, just hold on." You could hear the panic in your lover's voice, you hated seeing her so scared. "Nat I love you, forever and always okay?"
"No stop it, you're not leaving me, you can't do this."
"I'm sorry," You said as you let go of Nat's hand
"No! Please..." You heard as you felt the redhead toss and turn in bed next to you. Quickly you turned over to see tears streaming down the redhead's face. "Nat," You said as you gently shook her awake. "Baby it's okay, it's just a dream." Natasha shot up in bed looking around in a panic. Once the redhead's eyes locked with yours she practically jumped on you, giving you the tightest hug. "You're here," She said through her sobs. "Of course, I'm here Nat."
"You were dead, you were dead," She kept repeating. Your heart sank as you realized she was having a nightmare about Vormir. "Baby, look at me," You said as you gently cupped her face with your hands, "I'm here now, and I am never leaving you again."
"Promise?"
"I promise." You held Natasha and gently played with her hair until she once again fell asleep. As you watched the redhead seem to sleep peacefully, you wondered about how hard the two weeks you were gone were for her. You knew it was bad, but you feared it was worse than you could imagine.
-
You woke up first the next morning, ever since you and Nat retired the redhead had been sleeping in a lot. You were glad she was finally getting some rest. You very carefully moved Nat off of you and crawled out of bed.
You made your way to the kitchen where you were greeted with you and Nat's cat Liho. "You hungry?" You softly said as you went to fill the cat's food bowl.
Ever since retiring you have had a lot of free time, so a hobby you had taken up was baking. You knew Natasha was a sucker for chocolate, so you decide you make chocolate chip muffins for breakfast.
Natasha woke up to the smell of fresh muffins in the oven. The redhead sleepily stumbled into the kitchen, "Morning beautiful," you said as you set the table.
"You made muffins," Natasha smiled, you always made the best baked goods. You pulled the muffins out of the oven and plated one for Nat, you knew she loved them fresh out of the oven.
"Can I ask you something," Nat said looking anxious, you could tell something had been on her mind since the moment she walked into the room. "Always, what's the matter my love."
"Did it hurt?" You went silent, you weren't expecting her to ask. "I'm sorry you don't have to answer that, I shouldn't have-"
"No it's okay love, no it didn't hurt, physically I didn't feel a thing." Natasha let out the breathe she had been holding for weeks. "Physically?"
"Well hearing you scream as I fell was mentally painful, I didn't want to leave you." Tears welled in Nat's eyes. Quickly you went to go crouch down at her side, "Hey look at me, I'm okay, we are okay."
"I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to apologize for, if anything I'm sorry that what I did put you through so much. I can't imagine how hard those two weeks where I was gone were for you."
"I missed you so much."
"I know, which is why I am never leaving you again, I promise" Nat flashed you a smile and then very suddenly tightly wrapped her arms around you.
"So my love, what do you want to do today? We can do anything you want."
"I don't know, whatever as long as I'm with you," Nat said as she wiped her tears. You and Nat have both been struggling with the amount of free time you have now. Natasha especially. She had never not worked in her entire life, she had been doing this since she was a kid. She didn't really know what to do with herself.
"I have an idea," You said as you grabbed her hand and dragged her out the front door. "What's going on?" Natasha said with a laugh, "You'll see."
You took Nat into your backyard and started guiding her through the woods behind your home. "Y/N why are we-"
"Shhh, just trust me," You giggled out. You wandered through the seeming nothingness with Natashas hand tightly grasping yours when you finally reached a shallow stream. "I didn't know this was here."
"I found it a few days ago and have been looking for the perfect time to show you." Natasha took in the view for a moment, it was so peaceful here. "Take off your shoes," You said as you removed your sneakers, "What?"
"Trust me." Natasha hesitantly took off her shoes and you dragged her to the edge of the stream. You stepped into the shallow water and motioned for Nat to do the same. "Isn't the water nice?"
Natasha now had the biggest smile plastered on her face, "Yeah, it feels really nice." The two of you stood there for a moment just enjoying each other's prescreens and feeling the water brush over your feet.
You crouched down the feel the water with your hands and Nat noticed and did the same. Playfully you splashed Nat's arm when she got down on your level. "Hey!" Nat said as she went to splash you back. You got up quickly and ran further into the stream to getaway. You didn't think Nat would follow after you, but she did.
The two of you were having a full-on splash war in the middle of the stream and by the end, you were both soaked and your stomachs were sore from all the belly laughs you shared.
"Come on let's go get cleaned up," You said still laughing.
"Race you home," Nat said as she sprinted off. "Hey! You didn't give me a countdown!" You screamed chasing after her thinking about how lucky you were to have the all the time in the world to have spontaneous adventures with the woman you love most.
