Natasha Romanoff x Reader

Summary: the reader takes nat to build-a-bear for a surprise

Nat hates a lot of things. She hates sushi, being late, Mondays, and sleeping with the windows open. But what she hates most is when you have to go away on a mission without her.
"Hey love," you said as you walked into you and your girlfriend's apartment. Natasha perked up from her spot on the couch, "You're home." You went to press a kiss on her forehead, it was something you did every day when you came home. "I missed you, love."
"Missed you more."
"Natty, I have to leave on a mission tomorrow afternoon," The redhead's smile turned to a frown the moment you said 'leave'. Breaking the news to Natasha always broke your heart.
"Do you really have to go? Fury can send someone right" You let out a small laugh, "Nat you know that I have to go."
The redhead frowned, "I miss you lots when you're not here," she whispered. You approached your girlfriend and took her two hands into yours, "I know love, but it will only take a couple of days okay?" Nat just nodded.
"I have an idea," You said as you went to pull out your car keys. "What?" The redhead looked at you confused. "Come on," you giggled as you grabbed her hand and pulled her off the couch.
Natasha hopped into the passenger seat of your car and immediately started bombarding you with questions.
"Y/N where are we going?"
"Detka why won't you tell me?" You grabbed her hand and rubbed small circles on it to help soothe her, "It's a surprise." Natasha let out a groan, "I don't like surprises."
"You'll like this one, I promise."
When you started turning into the parking lot of Build-A-Bear Workshop you immediately noticed Natasha's confused look. "Detka I think you took a wrong turn."
"Nope, this is your surprise, Nat!"
"Going to Build-A-Bear?" You giggled at her confusion, "Trust me, you're going to love this."
The two of you headed inside and you immediately walked over to look at all the options of bears and other animals. "So I'm going to pick one out for you and you're going to pick one for me!"
Natasha started digging through all the options trying to find one that was perfect. She reached the end of the row and saw an adorable tan bunny. The moment she saw it she knew it was perfect.
You were on the other side of the store looking through all the bears, trying to find one that was perfect when you stumbled upon an old-timey looking teddy bear. You knew Nat didn't have stuffed animals as a kid, so you wanted to get the most nostalgic one you could find.
You went to find Natasha after selecting the perfect bear. "Nat!" You yelled out as you spotted her across the store. Quickly the redhead held up the stuffed bunny she chose so you could see. "Awww Natty, I love it!"
You then pulled out the teddy bear from behind your back and Natasha smiled bigger than you have seen all week. "It's perfect detka," she said as she pulled you in for a tight hug.
"I have one more surprise for you," you pulled away from the hug, "We can put a voice box in them with a message for each other. That way we can always hear the others' voice when they are away."
"I miss your voice so much when you're not here," Nat said softly as she went to hug you and bury her face in your neck. "I know love, but now you can hear it whenever you want."
You waited until Nat pulled away and then took her by the hand to the stuffing station. The two of you kissed the hearts the workers put into the bears and recorded the message to go inside the stuffed animal's hands. "Don't play the voice until I'm gone okay?" Nat nodded.
After the stuffed bunny and bear were all stuffed and had their voice boxes inside you guided Nat over to the clothes section. "Natty look," you said as you held up a clothing item, "It's a black widow suit!" The redhead laughed, "I can't believe they make those for stuffed animals."
After perusing the options for a while, you settled on getting Nat's teddy bear a little cable knit sweater. "Y/N!" Nat shouted, "Look at this!" You approached the redhead and saw a cute pajama set in her hands, "It's for your bunny."
"I love that Natty, thank you," You said as you went in to give her a kiss. "Look this is for your bear," You held up the little cable knit sweater. "Thank you for this Y/N, you were right, I did like this surprise."

It had only been a few hours since you had left for your mission and Nat already was getting anxious about your safety. The redhead decided it was best if she just tried to sleep, so she climbed into bed and grabbed the stuffed bear on the nightstand. She hadn't listened to the message you recorded for her bear yet.
The redhead pressed the hand of the bear, "I love and miss you so much Natty!" Tears started to form in the redhead's eyes, she missed hearing your voice so much.
She tightly clutched the teddy bear and attempted to fall asleep, crying to the sound of your voice coming from the stuffed animal.

The mission ended up taking you three whole days and at this point, you just needed to see Nat again. You snuck into you and Nat's apartment at 2 am in the morning, trying to be as quiet as possible. Slowly you opened the bedroom room to see Natasha's sleeping form holding onto her stuffed bear for dear life.
You slipped into the empty space next to her, trying not to wake her up, but Nat is very aware of her surroundings, even in her sleep. "It's just me love, you can go back to sleep," you said when she hummed as you laid down. "You're home," She said sleepily with a small smile. "Yeah, I'm home Natty," You leaned down to press a kiss on her forehead. Nat quickly went to wrap her arms around your waist and pull you flush against her front. "Missed you," the redhead mumbled out.
You went to snuggle further into the redhead's arms but felt something brush against your arm when you moved. You looked down to see the teddy bear still clutched in the redhead's hands. "You like your bear Natty?"
"Mhm, love it."
