Natasha Romanoff x Fem!Reader

Anyone who knew you, knew that you were a very anxious person. You were constantly plagued by your own thoughts. Insecurities, doubts, and feelings of unworthiness were absolutely normal to you. You felt as though you didn't deserve anything good that the world had to offer, despite being an Avenger.
When you joined the team, you were just an extremely trained individual that had gotten onto S.H.I.E.L.D's radar. You had been caught doing petty crimes like stealing money from tip jars to make ends meet. However, your fights with people who tried to stop you were impressive; at least in the eyes of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Instead of detaining you, they decided to hire you. You never understood what Fury saw in you. He said you were special and useful, but you just thought you were very good at self defense; thanks to your father who taught you to fight before he died.
You began to train alongside the Avengers and became one yourself soon after. You weren't a bad person by any means, but yet you still couldn't shake the feeling that you didn't deserve to be apart of such an amazing team; a wonderful family.
But most of all, you felt as though you were less than worthy of being with someone as amazing as Natasha Romanoff. She was the most gorgeous woman you had ever come across. She was independent and so sure of herself, a stark contrast to yourself. She knew what she wanted and was confident in her work, her worth, and her appearance. You had no idea how you managed to get the assassin to fall for you.
You weren't anything special, right? You were just a stray that S.H.I.E.L.D had taken in. You weren't exactly an essential part of the team, in your opinion. The things you could do, someone else could do better. Hand-to-hand combat? Natasha was amazing at it. Sharpshooting? Sam was a pro at that. Hacking and dealing with advanced technology? Tony Stark was the best of the best. You were a lesser version of the people around you.
Whenever your thoughts got the better of you, Natasha could tell immediately. You would stop doing the things you normally love to do. You wouldn't train as often as usual, you would only get out of bed when absolutely necessary, and you overall just completely neglected your health and well-being. You wouldn't eat or shower unless you were forced to by Natasha herself. She would always take care of you and remind you of how much she, along with the rest of the team, love you and need you.
You had just woken up and you immediately cringed at the sunlight pouring into yours and Natasha's room. You reached over to her side of the bed and were only met with cold sheets. You looked up from the bed and took note of the once messy room, now cleaned spotlessly. Natasha must've cleaned up while you were asleep.
You groaned as you turned over onto your side and shut your eyes once more, fully prepared to go back to sleep and stay that way for the rest of the day. Natasha had other plans though. She walked into your shared room with a tray of food and flowers.
"Good morning, baby. Eat up." Natasha said cheerily as she placed the tray on the bedside table before she climbed into bed next to you. You reluctantly sat up and leaned your head against the headboard, now in the same position as your girlfriend.
"I love you, but if you made anything on that plate, I'm not eating it. You can't cook to save your life." You joked, but the enthusiasm are absent from your tone and demeanor. Natasha noted that you were trying to seem normal for her sake, but she saw right through you; as she always did.
"I didn't make it. Wanda did, smart ass. I got you the flowers though." Natasha rolled her eyes as she cut up a pancake on the plate. She stabbed a piece with a fork and held the food up to your mouth. You raised your eyebrows at her.
"Seriously? I'm not a baby." You said to her with a hint of a smile ghosting your lips. "Yes, seriously. You're not a baby, but you're my baby. Now shut up and eat. The plane is about to land." Natasha began to move the fork closer to your mouth as she did a terrible airplane impression. You let out a laugh at her words and her antics as she shoved the fork into your mouth.
The rest of your meal went by like this, Natasha feeding you while she took some food for herself. Admittedly, you were already feeling 10x better than you have the past week. However, the thought of Natasha's cuteness caused the negative thoughts to flood back into your mind. You really didn't deserve her. Here she was, putting in effort to make you feel better. She shouldn't be with someone who she has to constantly worry about.
Natasha noticed your change in attitude as she placed the tray back onto the table beside her. "Hey. How about we take a shower, yeah? I love you, but you really need one right now." Natasha dramatically pretended to choke, trying to emphasize how much you apparently smell. You grabbed your pillow and hit her in the face with it, earning a laugh from the redhead as she stood up from the bed.
She made her way over to her drawer and picked out some comfortable clothes for you. She knew how much you loved wearing her clothing, so she knew this was a good way to get you back into higher spirits. Your eyes slightly lit up as she grabbed two pairs of her own clothes; she was letting you wear them.
Natasha made her way into the bathroom and the sound of the water running could be heard. You sluggishly pulled yourself out of the comfort of the bed and stalked toward the restroom, closing the door behind you. Natasha was already in the shower, a silhouette of her body visible through the steamy glass. You took your clothes off hesitantly, leaving them in a pile on the floor beside Natasha's.
You stepped into the shower and Natasha opened her eyes as she ran her hands through her wet hair. You couldn't help but check out your girlfriend. She was so fucking beautiful it physically made your heart hurt. How could someone as stunning as her want to be with someone like you? She could have anyone she wanted, yet she chose you? That doesn't sound right.
Natasha watched as you zoned out again. She could practically hear your thoughts and knew she had to pull you out of your head. Natasha moved from her place under the water and pulled you into her by the waist. You gasped at the feeling of her warm skin flush against your cold body.
"I love you, Y/N M/N L/N. You're it for me. I couldn't ask to be with anyone more amazing than you." Natasha began as your arms wrapped around her neck. Tears began to well up in your eyes at her words as you stared into her big, emerald eyes.
"You're so important. Not just to me, but to the whole team. You're like a sister to them, but you're like a wife to me. I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Natasha said, causing your eyes to widen. Nat smiled awkwardly at you.
"This wasn't the way I wanted to ask you this. I wanted to have something extravagant planned out. I wanted to ask you under perfect circumstances, but I now realize..." Natasha trailed off as she moved one hand off of your waist and cupped your cheek gently before she continued.
"Any circumstance is perfect, as long as I'm with you." Your tears began to fall, blending in with the water droplets from the splash of the shower above you both. "Will you make me the happiest person alive and marry me?" Natasha smiled at you as she caressed your cheek with her thumb.
"Yes! I'll marry you, baby." You squealed as you pulled Natasha closer to you as you gave her a bone crushing hug. Natasha was the love of your life, your personal light in the darkest places of your mind. You both laughed out of pure happiness as you withdrew from the hug, your arms still around one another.
Natasha suddenly pulled you into a soft kiss. The kiss was tender and filled with so much love that all your doubts and insecurities turned into background noise. All you could hear was your loud heartbeat in your ears. A reminder that your heart would forever beat for Natasha Romanoff.
