Chapter 4: Mixing Them Up

You and Kaoru left the kitchen with bowls of ramen. You set down the bowls, when there was a knock at the door. You walked over to the door and opened it.

"Hello (Y/N), I got you a plant as a welcoming gift," Tamaki said standing beside Kyoya.

"Senpai, what are you doing here?" Haruhi asked.

"I came to give a gift to my precious daughter's friend," the Tamaki sang.

"Hey boss," the twins said in unison. Tamaki averted his attention in the direction where the voices had come from. How many unexpected guests would show up today?

"What are you guys doing here? You're going to corrupt this poor girl," cried Tamaki dramatically.

"How do you know where I live?" You ask bluntly, grabbing Tamaki's attention once again.

"Well by Kyoya's handy-dandy laptop," Tamaki said, patting Kyoya's shoulder in which he received a dirty look from him.

"Yes, you have a pretty interesting profile," Kyoya said coldly. You felt a wave of panic run through your body.

"I'm sure this will be important in the future." Kyoya continued, giving you a smirk.

"Well, we better going and give (Y/N) time to settle in," Haruhi said, filling the silence.

"Aww, but we just got here," the twins and Tamaki complained.

"I said we should leave!" Haruhi demanded as she sent glares at the boys, making them pout and agree in obedience.

"Thanks Haruhi." You gave Haruhi a hug and waved at the boys while they left. You thought about Kyoya and what he meant by your profile being quote on quote, interesting.

"Whatever, I won't worry about it right now," you told yourself comfortingly.

The next day came and you were walking to school, in the horrible yellow dress that reminded you of a traffic sign. Your phone rang and you answered it quickly.

"Hello," you said into the phone.

"Hi (Y/N), how are you settling down?" The voice asked.

"Oh I'm doing fine dad."

"That's good to hear, how is school? Have you found Haruhi?"

"School's fine and yeah, Haruhi sure has changed."

"Oh ok, well I have to go now. Talk to you later (Y/N)."

"Ok. Bye dad." You put your phone away and walked through the doors of the marvelous school that never failed to surprise.

"Hey (Y/N)!" A voice hollers, bringing you out of your daydream. You glance behind your shoulder, noticing Haruhi.

"Hey Haru," you reply.

"Sorry about yesterday. I know they can be annoying sometimes," Haruhi said apologetically.

"Oh it's fine," you said giving a smile.

"I enjoyed having some people over."

"So, how are you? Having any trouble settling in?" Haruhi asks, concern obvious in her tone.

"Oh- I'm doing fine, but I'm not doing so good in my classes," you say trailing off at the end.

"Do you need any help? I can tutor you!" Haruhi exclaims.

"Oh you really don't ha-,"

"Hey Haru, (Y/N)," the twins say walking up to you.

"We were trying to have a conversation," Haruhi states, annoyed.

"Umm, yeah it'd be great if I cou-"

"Sorry Haruhi," one twin apologizes.

"You interrupted...again," Haruhi says aggrivated.

You watched as they argued and laughed to yourself.

"What's so funny?"

You turn your head, seeing the other twin.

"I'm just happy to be with Haruhi again." You smile brightly at the twin. You both stare at each other, falling into a trance.

"(Y/N), I'm sorry but please continue what you were saying previously," Haruhi says.

You snap out of your trance and face Haruhi. "I'd love it if you helped me."

"Umm, we should get to class now," you say changing the subject.

Kaoru's P.O.V~

Hikaru and I see Haruhi and (Y/N) walking down the hallway, talking about something.

"Hey Haruhi, (Y/N)!" We yell to get their attention. They both turn around, and Haruhi looks kinda irritated.

"We were trying to have a conversation!" Haruhi yells. 'Uh Oh Haruhi is mad.' Haruhi and (Y/N) start talking again.

"Sorry Haruhi," Hikaru says, interrupting (Y/N). 'Hikaru, you idiot!'

"You interrupted her... again," Haruhi says, she's ticked now.

I see (Y/N) laughing quietly to herself.

"What are you laughing about?"

"I'm just happy to be with Haruhi again," she says, smiling. '(Y/N) is so cute...wait you just met her, don't think like that!' Haruhi starts talking again, making (Y/N) snap out of that little trance.

Normal POV

You all walk to Science Class. When you enter the room, there is a sheet of paper on the teacher's desk and everyone surrounding it. The teacher walks in and everyone takes their seats.

"Class, today we are going to start a project," the teacher orders.

"You will all be assigned a partner." 'Please be Haruhi, Please be Haruhi' you beg, holding your breath. You hear your name and your heart starts to pound.

"(Y/N) (L/N), your partner will be Hikaru Hitachiin," the teacher says. You turn to Hikaru and see him smiling at you. You give a small smile and turn back around. You were really hoping to be partners with Haruhi.

"Hey (Y/N)," you turn around and see Hikaru standing there.

"Ok let's get to work," you say, hoping you didn't mix them up.

"But I'm not your partner," the twin says sadly. You mentally face palm yourself and turn to the upset twin,

"I'm so sorry, I'm such an idiot," you say apologetically,

"It's fine," Kaoru mumbles.
