金木研|Kaneki Ken
It was that time of year again. The sun warmed up the busy street's of Tokyo's 20th ward as the light breeze carried the cherry blossoms throughout the area.
The girl hauled her small stature over to the large building known as Kiyomi High School. After moving away from (country), it was the girl's first time attending a high school in Japan.
Butterflies flew every which way in her stomach. She had no desire to go. Every step she took, the distance between her and her new school became smaller and smaller.
By the time she made it to the front entrance of the school, she resembled a newborn fawn; her legs trembled terribly. She took a step forward and tightly held onto the strap from her bag. She was a bit hesitant to continue any further when she saw an enormous crowd of students surrounding the list of classes.
Reluctantly, she attempted to make her way past the throng of students. However, each time she would try to push past them, she would always end up back where she started.
As time passed by, the number of students began to diminish little by little and (f/n) finally had the chance to view her first class of the year.
"Hm, class 2-B...? So that should be on the second floor..." She whispered to herself as she took out her map of the school grounds. Turning around, she accidentally ended up bumping into one of the students. When she came to realize what she had done, she began to frantically wave her hands around in the air and bow down a million times followed by a million apologies.
"This is not the best way to start off the school year," the girl thought to herself as heat surfaced her [color] cheeks.
"I-it's, okay! You don't have to apologize!"
[Name] raised her [color] eyes at the sound of the boy's voice. She took in his appearance. To her, the boy resembled a glass doll. It seemed as if with just only touch she could have broken him. He was a very lean boy as well. His slender finger scratched at his pale skinned face as a light dust of red took form on his cheeks. His smile adorned his visage and his grey eyes sparkled under the spring sun. His jet black hair sat on his head and slightly waved around from the light breeze.
Blood rushed to her face once she noticed she was starting at him.
"I-I-I'm really sorry I bumped into you! I didn't meant to..." she apologized once again as she pushed her glasses up and looked down at her hands.
The boy's cheeks flushed to a violent shade of red, if that was even possible, at the current appearance of the girl. He had to admit, she was pretty cute, but he had no chance of ever being with such a beauty. He hadn't seen her at school before either, so he assumed that she must be a transfer student.
"My name's Kaneki Ken by the way. What's yours?" He offered her a smile, hoping she would warm up to him. He was never really the type of guy to talk with girls, but it never hurt to try, right? There was always a possibility they could be friends. He just hoped for the best.
[Name] rose her head up and returned the smile back to the boy, now known as Kaneki-san. She tucked back a strand of her [color] hair and pushed her glasses up; a habit she had ever since she was young. She'd always do this when she was nervous. She cleared her throat and proceeded with the introductions.
"I'm [last and first name]. It's nice to meet you Kaneki-san."
"It's nice to meet you too, [last name]-san. I-"
Kaneki was cut off by the school's bell, signaling that it was almost time for school to start. The crowd of students that were left began to disperse and make their way inside the school building. In the process, Kaneki was sadly separated from [last name]-san and wasn't able to ask what class she had. The petite girl was swallowed by the sea of black uniforms and forcibly pushed to the auditorium where the opening ceremony would take place.
She was really looking forward to hearing what Kaneki had to say. The sweetness of his personality really got to her. She had to admit, she was easily swayed by boys like him.
Finally, she had reached the auditorium and looked for a seat she could use. To her dismay, one of the only empty stops was between a group of boys.
With her head down and hair covering most of her face, [name] made her way past the boys. She could feel their eyes on her as she passed by them. When she finally made it to her seat and sat down, she was bombarded with questions and comments from the guys.
"Where are you from?"
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
"What class are you in?"
"What school did you attend before?"
"You're really cute."
"Wanna hang out later?"
The attention from the school boys was too much for her since she wasn't use to it. Her stomach twisted inside and out and her slim legs felt like jelly. She looked down to her lap to avoid the gaze of the boys. [Name] desperately wanted to leave, but she couldn't.

After the ceremony, [name] proceeded to head towards her new classroom. When she arrived, she slid the door open and walked towards the back of the room and sat in the desk closest to the window. She patiently waited and hoped the encounter she had with the boys earlier wouldn't occur again. Naturally, the students were curious and little by little, she began to be surrounded by people.
To her wishes' command, the bell rang and the homeroom teacher entered the classroom. Greetings were said to the teacher and the new seating order was arranged. Luckily for [name], she was able to sit in the seat she was in before the seats were changed. The [hair color] unpacked her supplies and and waited for Sensei's next instructions.
The first couple of minutes of class were slow and because [name] was easily distracted, she turned her attention to the outside world. Down below her, she could see a few pedestrians walking alongside the sidewalk and some students arriving late on the first day of school. She sighed and shifted her thoughts on Kaneki-san. What class is he in...? She really wanted to see him again. Especially that soft smile of his. She couldn't stop thinking of him. The scenario from earlier kept on replaying in her head.
She smiled to herself as she thought of him. She probably looked silly to all her classmates by now. The new girl smiling for no good reason.
Suddenly, [name] was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard her name being called by the teacher.
"[Last name]-san, could you please raise your hand?"
"Hai,sensei" the girl answered back. Her (e/c) orbs grew as she was unable to believe that Kaneki was in the same class as hers.
"You sit over there Kaneki-san, next to [last name]-san."
"Hai, arigatio gozaimasu," Kaneki politely replied to the teacher.
Swiftly, the boy made his way over to his seat and quickly sat down. He turned to the girl and smiled at her joyfully and thankful that he ended up in he same class as hers.
"Isn't this a coincidence, [last name]-san? I'm really glad I'll be able to spend this year with you."
Both of their cheeks flushed with red. Kaneki couldn't believe he just said that. Since when was he so confident speaking to girls that way!? Little did he know that [name] was also glad to have him in her class.
"K-Kaneki-san, I'm happy I get to spend it with you too," she quietly whispered back to him as she smiled a sincere smile.
Kaneki's cheeks turned into a darker shade of crimson. She slightly giggled at his reaction and turned her attention to the teacher. She placed her chin on the palm of her hand and softly smiled to herself. Maybe starting a new school in a new country wouldn't be so bad? After all, it seemed as if she would have Kaneki Ken's wonderful company.
