Chapter Forty Seven

I'm back after almost a month, but not completely back yet ! Apologies for the delays, there are too many things going on on the personal front that I didnt get time to write. All the free time that I had were spent sleeping, and nothing else, yet I feel sleep deprived for some reasons. I will be back updating every Sunday by end of this month. Till then, enjoy this short update, this is all I could manage at 12:30 on a Sunday night. Apologies in advance.

Next couple of weeks passed in a blur for Manik and Nandini, as Manik had started observing surgeries Dr. Priya did and was also helping her. Whereas Nandini was busy studying for her exams, they did group studies with friends, sometimes just her at home.

"Nandu baby, sleep for sometime, or else you'll fall sick right before exams" Manik said turning to her. It was 3 AM, he was sleeping, but Nandini was studying with the table lamp on.

"Okay Manik, just this last few pages, I'll be done with this topic" she mumbled and continued reading from her notes and cross checking the same in her textbook. Manik sighed and got up, making minimal noise he walked into the kitchen, warmed up some milk and mixed bournvita in it and walked back to the room. Placing the glass next to her book, he signaled her to drink it when she looked at the glass and him and pouted.

"Nai naa" she whined looking away.

"You have to finish it before you read one more page from your notes" Manik spoke sternly making her pout sadly. Manik would really make her drink it by hook or crook, so better get done with it. Sighing deeply Nandini took a deep breath and pinching her nose she gulped the entire glass of milk at once and slammed the empty glass back on the table.

"My accha baccha" Manik said and forwarded two Melody chocolates to her making her grin in response. Pecking her lips at her cuteness, he walked back to the bed.

"Good night Manik, and I promise, I'll join you very soon. I am almost done" Nandini said chewing the chocolate making Manik smile.

"Dont rush, finish it off properly or you'll go back to it again and again. Get it done right and rest properly, so that you'll be confident. Okay?" he said and she just nodded in response and dug her face in her book. Manik chuckled and turned to the other side to sleep.

Sometime later he felt Nandini snuggling close to him, wrapping his hands around her tightly he kissed on the top of her head and asked sleepily "What time is it?"

"4:30" Nandini said yawning, rubbing her nose on his chest. "Sleep" he said and patted her head a couple of times and slept, so did Nandini.

Manik woke up on the first ring of his alarm and turned it off immediately as he didnt want Nandini to wake up, not that she would even hear the alarm, but he didnt want to take chances. Tucking the hair strands from her face to the back of her ear, he smiled looking at her adorable sleeping face. Slightly snoring and holding his vest in a death grip even in sleep, was the sight Manik would never get used to. She was just like a small baby. Adorable and cute. 

Bending slightly he kissed her forehead and she smiled snuggling close to him, if possible. she was stuck to him like second skin. Cuddling her close, making her sleep in a comfortable position, Manik just patted her head gently for few minutes and the looked at the clock. It was 7:30, he could stay on the bed for 15 more minutes. before he had to kick start for the day and he was to spend this time with her, because he could have her back in his arms only by the end of the day. He checked Dr. Priya's schedule for the day, she had no surgeries post lunch. 

Getting ready without making any noise Manik took all his things and walked out of the room not before kissing Nandini's forehead.

"Good morning Maa Papa" he greeted his parents who replied back.

"Maa let Nandu sleep for an hour or so. I checked her timetable, her class today starts at 10, so I think it should be fine. She slept around 4:30 in the morning" he informed Nyonika who served him his breakfast.

"Okay done. Her exams start day after tomorrow right?" she asked sitting next to Raj, serving him breakfast and then herself as well.

"Yeah, she has covered major portion of her syllabus, and she just has couple of special classes today and then she'll be free. She has to submit her records as well and get them signed." he informed and they nodded understanding.

"Manik box lele beta" Dj said walking out of the kitchen packing his lunch in a bag.

"Dj, why do you work so much in the mornings, I can manage from the hospital canteen, the food is decent there" he spoke with a frown. He didnt like his mother and grandma rushing and toiling so much in the morning to pack him an elaborate lunch.

"Shut up. You work so much and run around the whole day. You are becoming a Doctor, and we dont want you to become a patient before that. Eat healthy and stay healthy. And its not heavy lunch, just dal, jeera rice and chapati with some potato and beans fried, and some sooji ka halwa. Yeah and its for you and Cabir, you have the same shift today right" Dj said in a dismissing tone and Manik sighed. He could never win over her.

"Yes and I will feed that hippopotamus also. Not sure how he manages to not gain weight even after eating so much" Manik said sarcastically and got up making everyone chuckle at his sarcastic remark.

"Bye everyone, will see you in the evening" Manik walked out of the house with his bag on his shoulder and carrying the food bag in his other hand. By the weight of it, he knew it could feed atleast 4 people.

His day was a little free as Dr. Priya just had one simple procedure and regular patient visits. Manik knocked the door of her cabin and entered after she permitted him.

"Ma'am, can I go and have lunch with Nandini, please. I will be back by 2 pakka" he asked and she smiled. "Go, waise bhi its not a busy day today" she said making Manik smile.

He called Nandini and walked to the parking taking the lunch bag with him. Just when he was about to start the car, the passenger door opened and a huffing Cabir sat in the car.

"Where were you leaving with my share of food" he spoke accusingly and Manik rolled his eyes in response. He started the car and drove towards his college arguing with Cabir.

I dont know what I have written honestly. My eyes are drooping close now.
