Apologies for the delay. I completely forgot that it was Wednesday, until I was boiling noodles for dinner. Long update as a compensation.

Happy reading :)

"Manik we have to talk" Nandini said out of the blue, who was very silent till that moment. He caressed her hair lovingly as her head was in his lap. They were in his room, taking a small break from their exam preparation.

"I want you to apply for your Masters in London" she said turning to look at him. Manik was startled for a moment and then faced her.

"You are nuts. I am not doing that" he said stubbornly. Taking his hand in hers, she said lovingly tracing the lines in his palm

"And I am not asking you. I am telling you"

"And who said that I am going to obey you" he replied sarcastically

"Me" she said in the same tone, squeezing her eyes to intimidate him, but he suppressed his urge to laugh at her cute expression

"And why would I obey you madam" he said poking her nose. She swatted his hand angrily and sat straight facing him.

"If you don't then I am not going to marry you" she gave him an ultimatum crossing her hands across her chest.

Manik's eyes turned red and he fisted his hands to control the raising temper.

"Stop your non sense Nandini. I am not going and that's final. Enough of your bullshit, lets get back to our preparation. Its my last exam tomorrow and I want to give my best" he said and got up to move to the study table.

Nandini sighed sadly. She couldn't see him forgo his dreams but she knew that he was equally insecure about her.

"Manik, this discussion is not over. I will not disturb you now, but you will have to face me tomorrow after your test" she said and collecting all her books, walked out of the room.

After hearing the sound of the door being closed, Manik palmed his face and let out a groan. He walked to the cupboard and opened a box, kept safely under his clothes. Opening the box, he took the ring and caressed it with a sad smile. It was he engagement ring that she threw on his face when they had fought an year back. Things were better now, but he didn't have the courage to give that ring back to her, neither did she mention the ring to him at least once.

Shaking his head to shrug off the bad thoughts and memories, he moved to his books.

Next day, after exam:

"Brooooooo, my last exam is finally done. I am soooooo happy" Canir said hugging Manik, who laughed at his friends words.

"How did your exam go?" he asked Cabir, who just shrugged his shoulders.

"Fine I guess. I didn't answer all of them, but I attempted all the high scoring ones, how about yours" he said looking around.

"Decent I guess. I answered almost all of them, but I'm not sure, if that's enough" Manik replied making a bad face looking at the question paper.

"Where are the others?"

"No idea, lets collect our phones and see if they have left a message" Manik said and the duo moved to collect their phones from the in charge.

"Okay, Abhi has a lab test, so he's busy. Dhruv and Aliya have a test tomorrow so they are studying in the library. Harshad finished his paper half an hour back so he left, Aryaman is with Arushi in the canteen. Mukti didn't come today, as we know. Nandu and Navya are in library for god know's what. So we have to go to library. Mom was asking to bring Navya home. As her exams are over, they have to 'catch-up' it seems" Cabir said air quoting the words.
