Luke's P.O.V

Caitlin asked me to take her to school...and so I did. The whole car journey was in complete silence. I couldn't even find the words to say. After I parked the car at the school's parking lot. I headed straight to the boys... they could tell something was wrong. They could see that I wasn't speaking to Caitlin.

"Luke, what's wrong?" Michael said.

"I should have told her I have feelings for her. Now it's too late." I muttered.

"What do you mean too late?" Ashton said.

"She has a boyfriend called James. He's such a jerk. He threatened to kill me; if I got in between his relationship with Caitlin." I said.

"He can't do that." Calum added.

"Well... it's too late to tell her I love her." I replied annoyed.

Caitlin's P.O.V

What is wrong with Luke? He seems to be avoiding me again. Did I do something wrong?

I walked up to Luke and the guys. I stood next to Luke, but he moved away.

"What's up with you Luke?" I asked.

"Nothing." He answered.

"There's something wrong... tell me." I demanded.

"I'm fine. There's nothing wrong okay?" He corrected.

That kinda hurt... Luke would never speak to me like that. What the hell is his problem with me all of a sudden?

Luke stormed off inside the school buildings, leaving me with the boys.

"Hey guys, do you know what's up with Luke?" I asked.

"Nope." They replied.

~time passes~

Luke ignored me this whole morning; he couldn't even look at me in the eye. It was lunch time, Luke and I headed to the table in which we always sit at, near the windows with the boys. Luke kept his distance away from me.

Why does this hurt me?

"So, how long have you guys been seeing each other?" Luke said unexpectedly.

Oh...now he decides to talk to me? "Um... a couple of weeks now." I replied.

"You didn't feel the need to tell your best friend?" Luke said annoyed.

"Well, I had other stuff on my mind..." I admitted.

"Yeah, sure you did." Luke muttered in a sarcastic tone.

At that same moment, it went pitch black...someone was covering my eyes.

"Guess who?" someone's voice whispered in my ear.

"James, I know it's you." I replied and turned around to kiss him. Luke looked uncomfortable.

"Surprise! I had a free day so I decided to have lunch with you." James said.

Luke's P.O.V

Lunch was nearly finished. I couldn't stand James. He kept kissing Caitlin in front of me whilst smirking. I can't handle it anymore... I have to tell her my feelings for her.

~time passes~

It was 1:00 in the afternoon, lunch time had ended. Caitlin and I had science together.

"Hey, erm... Caitlin can I speak to you after science?" I asked her.

"Sure." She replied.

That science lesson, we were watching a documentary about penguins... my favourite animal. Don't ask why... I just like them okay. There was 5 minutes of science left, and our teacher asked us to pack away early so that we wouldn't be late to out next lesson.

I pulled Caitlin by the hands into a small corner on the staircase.

"Caitlin, I have to admit something." I started...

"What Lukey?" She asked.

"I don't like you're boyfriend, James. He's such a jerk; he doesn't deserve to be with you." I spluttered out. That was not what I was meant to say!

Caitlin just looked at me shocked.

"I can't believe you would try and break up my relationship with James, Lukey. How could you say that? You don't even know him. I thought you would be happy for me... Luke you're my best friend... how ...could...you?" She argued.

"I do want you to be happy... just...." I contradicted.

I don't know what happened, but my hands pulled her closer to me and moments later our lips were pressed against each other. She pushed me back and slapped me.

"Luke! How could you do that? I can't believe you. Do you not want me to be happy?" She shouted.

I started to rub my cheek. She slapped me really hard. "I'm sorry; I didn't mean to kiss you..." I said.

She pushed me back and stormed off. I ran my fingers through my hair and placed it around the back of my head, staring out at the window. Luke what have you done...
