Day after day, practice after practice. Time flew by so fast, I didn't even realize it was almost time for Thanksgiving break. Actually to be more exact, I was scheduled for a flight tomorrow. I had to pack immediately. No way was I missing Thanksgiving dinner.

I boarded my plane the next day after saying good bye to Alice, Tristan, and Barrett.

"I'm so happy you're home sweetie!" My mom pulled me into a hug, which turned into a group hug with my dad, Layla, and Will.

"Me too mom. I've been under lots of stress lately."

"Let's hope it's not enough stress to keep you from cooking. You know your mother can't cook." My dad wasn't lying. She could probably find a way to burn water.

"Don't worry. I'll be fine."

We drove home. It felt so good to see Jessica and all of my other friends. Thanksgiving was in 2 days. I could practically taste the food.

My family always had a big Thanksgiving. We would get the entire neighborhood plus some other friends together for a big feast. Everyone brought something special, wether it was pumpkin pie or some sort of casserole.

I always made broccoli and cheese casserole that has been in my family for generations. Dad made at least 5 turkeys. Layla baked cookies, cupcakes, and rice crispy treats. Mom decorated. Will did absolutely nothing as usual.

I began cooking the night before Thanksgiving along with everyone else.

"So who's all coming? Anyone new?" I asked Layla.

"Well the neighborhood as usual. I invited a few of my friends and so did Will. And Mom and Dad invited Colt's family."

I stopped cutting the broccoli and just stared. Colt was coming? Why? Oh that's right. I never told my family.

"Is something wrong, G?"

"Um. Is Colt himself coming?"

"Pretty sure. His whole family is as far as I know. Something's wrong. Tell me."

"Just don't tell Mom or Dad would ya?"

"You have my sisterly promise."

"Well in October Colt kind of broke up with me. He said it was just because he was majorly distracted with his studies. I uh, met another guy."

"So just like that? You got dumped and found another guy? Way to go sista!"

"I guess. It's just going to be awkward around Colt. I don't want to lead Mom and Dad and his parents on."

"Just act natural, avoid him as much as possible, and let it play itself out. Break-ups happen all of the time. No biggy."

"I hope you're right."

Thanksgiving day was kind of hectic. My family was running around trying to get everything ready before people started showing up. We failed. Jessica and her family came before we were ready. But on the bright side we had an extra few sets of helping hands.

Pretty soon, people started showing up left and right. I saw Colt's parents and his siblings, but not Colt himself.

"Heyyy Gracie!!" His brother Jackson said. "How's my brother's girl been?"

Great, he hasn't told them yet.

"Awesome. I'm starring in a film at the Sundance Film Festival."

"Cool. When is it?"

"After Christmas break. We're working on right now."

Just then Colt arrived. "Hey Grace." He put his arm around me.

When I was sure no one could hear us I pulled away from him. "What are you doing?!"

"What do you mean?" He asked looking genuinely confused.

"You know what I'm talking about. We broke up. We're done. There is no us anymore. Just stop pretending."

"Look, I don't want my parents to know about us breaking up. Just go with it for me."

"I should kick you out. I don't want my parents to know either."

"C'mon. It's not like we're gonna have to kiss or anything."

I sighed and just walked away to find Jessica.
