I finished the year in a blur. I almost forgot everything. Everything except the night of the Sundance Film Festival. I didn't even celebrate my 19th birthday. My family sent me presents. I also received one from Colt. It's sitting on my desk, unopened.
On my flight that would take me home for the summer, it stopped in Michigan for a fuel refill. Guess who boarded the plane? Colt Hanson. Guess who had an open seat? Grace Tacker.
"Hi." Colt said after storing is carry-on bag in the overhead.
I ignored him. I didn't feel like crying in front of these strangers.
"Grace-"
"Shut up okay! Just, shut up!"
I think I yelled, but I'm not quite sure.

I went off the plane as fast as I could. I grabbed my luggage as fast as I could. I called a cab as fast as I could.I should've stopped running once I got home, but I didn't. I ran to my room and cried. Would things ever get better? Probably not.
Someone knocked on my door. "Grace?" It was Layla.
"Go away."
"Grace it's Layla."
"Go away."
She came in anyway. I guess I didn't lock the door. She turned and locked though.
"Gracie, what happened?"
I didn't say anything.
"Did Barrett break up with you?"
I shook my head.
"Then what happened? You weren't even this upset when Colt broke up with you."
I was okay-enough to where I could speak. "Me and Barrett are still together. Colt, he...he-" I couldn't continue. I had to choke out Colt's name.
Layla left. I could cry once again. My phone rang. It rang five times before I checked to see who. Jessica. I called her back.
"Hey, heard you got back from Juilliard. What's up."
"Oh, what I've usually been doing lately. Sobbing. Crying. The whole package. Boys are weird."
"Oh-no. What did Colt do this time???"
"It's more of what didn't he do. He thinks we should get back together."
"Aren't you still dating Barrett?"
"Yeah."
"That little-"
"Jess! It's not that big of a de- Speak of the devil, I'll call you back."
"Wait! Put me on speaker!"
"Bye Jessy." I hung up the phone and turned to Colt.
"I know I shouldn't be here. Layla got me."
I'm going to kill Layla next time I see her.
"Grace?"
I just looked. Didn't speak. Didn't shake my head. Just look and listen.
He sat on the edge if my bed. I didn't know if I could held myself together, but I did.
"Grace! Come on! Say something, anything. Please."
I just looked. He shook my shoulders. Nothing. I felt numb on the inside. I felt nothing.
